Kenny if I made it sounds like it was easy to get to the $1000 a month mark, than I guess I should have made it a little clearer. it is NOT an easy thing to make any money at poker let alone $1000 a month. I read somewhere that only 15% of poker players actually win in the long term. I have worked my ass of to become a good poker player. It takes a lot of mental stregnth to deal with the frusteration that comes with playing poker. It takes a ton of discapline to still play your A game when you are on a bad losing streak and you see every moron win with worse cards and worse draws.
A second good point that CJ made is that most people dont understand what you are going through. People either think you are the luckiest person in the world to be playing poker as a pro/Semi pro or they think you are a degerate gambler. Try telling a girl you have never met before that you help support yourself by playing poker, you have never seen someone run so fast. To get to a high winning level you have to "Study" everyday. My ex never understood my "obsession." It is a good way to make money and I am happy with it as my second job behind school but it is in no way easy.
