I think after the preflop raising you really needed a reason to stay in on the flop. Having said that when he checks it I am betting to fake the ace or flush. I figure he might have gone ballistico preflop with a med pocket pair like yours and you're now giving him a really good reason to drop the hand now.
You hit pay dirt on the turn so after that all you are worried about is the flush but I think you played it well checking down on the river. Its one of those you are either a country mile ahead of behind if he has the flush. I am assuming if you hit the boat you are betting but otherwise I like it.
I think that in these situations whenever you have a legit hand you should play maybe a little harder than normal. If it were a multi-way you would prob assume someone had the flush and if not fold then play it cheaper. One on one I am pushing and taking the beats when he does have the hand. There are so many low limit players who treate these like "who has the bigger dick" contests it makes putting someone on a hand next to impossible. If I have it I go to war, if I am not sure I will check/call it down. Its the one of the nicer aspects of limit.
