(1) Make only one results thread -- not multiple threads in each section (no-limit, limit, MTT, Omaha, etc). Ask people to post their results from all types of games in one place. (Maybe in the "bankroll" section?)
(2) Allow people to comment on other people's results within the results thread.
Reasoning behind the suggestions:
(i) These threads are underutilized as they are now.
(ii) People want to say "good job" or offer questions to each other about their results! And, imo, it's probably a good way of fostering community here -- sharing the ups and downs of the game together is important stuff. It's much easier and more natural to comment within the thread itself. Even Iceman wants to do it and he's a site moderator.
(iii) No-limit players are probably interested in how well limit players are doing (and vice-versa), and many non-Omaha players are probably interested in how Felonious and others are doing on the Omaha tables. But some people (inclduing me) do not commonly read the limit or Omaha sections of BTP, so we miss those results.
(iv) I don't understand the reason for the "no comments on other results within the results thread" rule in the first place. Is it some sort of attempt to keep them "pure"? Are we saving all results for incorporation into some grand end-of-year here's-everybody's-results fest? If not, I don't see the point. Maybe instead we could just set up an informal rule that people should wait a couple of days into the week before commenting on other people's results, so that everybody has a chance to post their results first, THEN the comments on the results come after that.
Just some suggestions. Comments?Statistics: Posted by k3nt — Tue Feb 01, 2005 9:46 am
