My ISP is hopping mad of course (www.biscit.net, who are generally great and give me better-than-advertised speeds on their 1mb package), because it makes them look bad, whereas it's nothing to do with them - it's all BT. Money grabbing bastards that they are.
One thing that exacerbated the situation is that when BT processed the cessation request they didn't mark it as completed. Therefore when my ISP put through a reconnection request a few days ago it failed, saying 'Error: Previous work order not complete' or some such nonsense. Since BT don't push work order errors back to their originators, it took me having to phone up and ask for a progress report to discover that the reconnection request had failed completely.
My new ETA for getting my conncetion (read: life) back at home is next Friday.
NOT a happy camper. I have no idea how I'm going to spend the weekend. I'll have to go do something 'real' like camping or something...

I took out a new contract with the telephone company and my broadband service became a casualty. So I can only access BTP from work ATM. Hope to be fully back in action within a couple of days.
