I must admit I'm very surprised at Monk for admitting that you put it on EASY level. I mean, c'mon, that's just for babies.

I know it's advisable to look for a nice and easy poker table to play at but when it comes to gaming you stick it on hard and get stuck into it.

Happy gaming everybody.

I also have a high end system so it runs so smoothly on mine with all graphics turned up to max.

I have to say its the best game to come out this year and i cant wait till source release the day of defeat mod.

Doom 3 is supposed to be the same deal as ever, but better graphics and too dark to be good for your eyes.

The latest version of CounterStrike looks the same as the old one, to me. Plus I don't play it because I resent being roundly beaten by 15 year-olds using cheeser moves to end your life in 10-20 seconds

That's about all I know.. Poker and this site suck up just about all of my time lol :D

I set the game to 'normal' straight away. The game is a bit tedious at points but adrenaline inducing in others. But I know what you mean, the 'buzz' is not quite there any more even though the graphics are stunning and the physics are cool.

I used to love gaming and programming on the Amiga, and certainly do remember Syndicate. which had awesome playability. Remember the miniguns?

The loading time is a symptom of your old system - takes about 5 seconds for me but I have a fast hard disk with SATA interface and 1GB RAM.

That's an amazing win rate at $25 NL! I am quite jealous!

Yeah I persevered and left it running along whilst I had my dinner, and lo and behold after getting it to start (and lowering all the video options) it was running fine on my 2-year old computer (once top of the range). First impressions are very favourable, although like the opposing forces i felt that the difficulty curve was a bit too shallow (i did have it on "easy" mode tho). Quit after a finding the hoverbike bit and getting to a section where i killed loads of people but can't quite get any further cos there's a big door in the river that I can't open because the control for it is broken, and i'm not entirely sure how to proceed. It seems fairly likely that i have to tediously stack up a load of boxes on a cart or something to jump over the fence, but that just seemed too tiresome for words so i decided to give it a break.

The "loading" bits take an age (about 2 or 3 minutes between each section) but it's not too bad cos once the section has loaded it runs very smoothly. Took particularly evil pleasure so far whacking the worryingly realistic zombie bodies with a crowbar, and random acts of vandalism perpetrated on boxes, tyres etc with hand grenades.

The original had me literally locked in my mates uni room about 5 or 6 years back, for a good wekk whilst we worked our way through it, one of the few times in my life i remember being quite so addicted to a computer game (roughly up with the time when I was 14 yrs old or so and an old friend came down to stay, and we did nothing for a week but play "syndicate" on the old amiga for 5 days solid, about 10 hours a day, anyone remember that game?).

On another positive note, my losses for this nightmare december i've had ($550 or so when I decided to go on a break) have almost been wiped out in three sessions of recreational 25NL in the last 10 days or so (including the party bonus). I'm currently running at a scarcely believable 45BB/100 over nearly 3000 hands at 25NL, thats about 40 bucks per hour multitabling, about what I made on average this year playing PLO lol. I reckon it can't possibly last of course, but it's been fun for a week or two, the play is insanely bad and using PT to pick up the fish you can make some seemingly outrageous call downs and they turn over garbage and bluffs again and again and again.

Anyways, hope everyone is enjoying the festive period!

Fortunately I have a shit hot computer that runs it no problem, but yes, the Steam stuff did take forever to download and decrypt.

When the game was launched, there were literally thousands of people clamouring that it didn't work on their computers every day.

Mind you, the game is pretty AWESOME when you get to playing it.

I got about halfway through before discovering 'Eve Online', and then switched to that for a while, before deciding that poker was more productive.
