Hand 1:
I'm in CO with $92 and get Kd Qs Kh 5h. 4 callers to me, I raise to $5, and we end up 5 handed for the flop. Flop is As 3s Ks. The SB bets $10 into a $25ish pot. All fold to me. How do you play this? I hadn't played with the player before so I have no opinions on him. I thought the bet looked weak so I raised the pot to $57 and he folded. I had the Qs so, if he had a J or lower flush, this bet may well cause him to fold it. And, you never know, he may even fold AAA if I bet that strongly.
Hand 2:
I'm BB with $97 and get 3h 6h 3d Qh. Flop is 9 handed and comes 9c 3c 2d. I check and it gets checked to an MP who bets $4 into the $9 pot. I've played with him a little bit and he's fairly poor. I raised the pot to $21 and he called the extra $17. Turn was the Ks. I bet out $51 and he called. River was the Jd. How do you play this card? I checked, he checked behind me and I took the pot. Unfortunately, at Crypto they don't show the loser's hand if he acts after you, so I never saw what he had.
The reason I checked at the time was that I thought he must be on a draw. I couldn't see him having QT - I thought some combination of A456 type cards. He could have been playing a set of 9's but I doubted it. Either way, if he was on a missed draw he would fold to my river bet. If I checked he would either bet with a better hand than mine (which I would pay off), or he might bluff and donate me some extra money. Looking back, I'm not sure if this was the correct play or not. It's possible he had 93 or 92 or maybe even hit a 9J or 9K and I could've gotten a few more chips.
