I am convinced that I will never "make it" in poker. I think it means that I cannot quit my day job. It doesn't mean that I can't play the game. I am always in bankroll management mode, so, while I am profitable, I rarely take shots at games where I will be up against better players, which is a mistake, I know.
Just this year I won my first MTT of 241 players in a $2.25 game. While not huge, getting that first one under your belt after two years of painstaking losses, constant analysis and study was rewarding .. better yet, I later took a 90 player KO down for back to back 1st Place finishes.
Still gotta keep the day job. Since then, it's been a bit of a roller coaster, but bankroll management mode kicks in, and I just play while the winter holds on here in the midwest.
I am convinced that AA v. KK hands online are "pre-mixed" into the RNG. While it smells of aluminum hat theories, online games just seem to smell funny, sometimes.
I've got the Heartland Poker Tour coming up here. I really don't know what to make of it. It's really expensve to play, so you've really got to satellite in. Last year, I played a 2 places paid, $45 SNG at a barge Casino here in Chicago/Indiana. The weird thing is that they didn't have enough players to fill the 10 seat table in the Poker Room, and they brought in a shill.
I was chipleader with 4 players left and got Pocket 5s UTG and pushed for the 600/1200 blinds in level 7!!!! Can you believe that? It was 25/50, 50/100, 150/300, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000, 600/1200 in an hour!! Our shill woke up with Aces and I didn't improve and was crippled. Stupid move and the shill took the game down along with Toothless Timmy, who didn't even know he won because he thought it was winner take all. Oy vey.
So, I just need to keep my head in these types of games. Mistakes suck. I am convinced that I make less mistakes... I just wish they were getting smaller in terms of Ruin.Statistics: Posted by theFormula — Thu Feb 21, 2008 1:25 am
