SB (t2725)
Preflop: Hero is BB with , .
UTG calls t200, 1 fold, SB raises to t400, Hero calls t200, UTG calls t200.
Flop: (t1200) , , (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets t2115 (All-In), SB folds, Hero calls t2115.
Turn: (t5430) (2 players, 1 all-in)
River: (t5430) (2 players, 1 all-in)
Final Pot: t5430
The one moving all-in (UTG) has been very aggressive. I have 3x his stack. I figured on the flop he wouldn't push all-in if he already had trips or full house. I put him on a pair. I wish I bet a sizeable amount before him, perhaps 900-1000 (into a pot of 1200).
The pot was 1200 before UTG pushed all-in, making the pot 3300 and 2115 to call. That's about 1.5:1, so my call was a little loose. Before I made the call, I even said "let's gamble". I knew the odds of hitting my flush with 2 cards to come was about 2:1, not the 1.5:1 I needed. But I started thinking... if I knock this player out, I'm in the money and have an even bigger chip stack. If I lose, I still will be chip leader. What do you think of this call?
If I bet into him first, he probably would have raised all-in regardless, but I would have a much easier call. Let's say I bet 900, making the pot 2100, he raises all-in putting in another 1200. Now I would have to call 1200 into a pot of 3300 (~2.7:1), giving me the proper odds of hitting my flush with two cards to come.
How would you have handled this situation? Folded pre-flop? I had a king with a mediocre kicker, it's just the three of us, UTG limped in, Button min-raised... I knew UTG would call, so I was expecting a nice pot here and I had the potential to hurt both players.
BTW, thanks again for the advice everyone with my last post ("Losing Streak"). I started raising bigger than usual, and it certainly paid off. I became a major chip leader and ended up winning the tournament.Statistics: Posted by EscapePlan9 — Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:54 pm
