Doubling up has more value the earlier it happens, largely because it opens up more options to play more hands while the blinds are relatively small. I'm not advocating crazy-looseness, just dabbling in pots, picking up small ones and letting dodgy situations go while searching for a monster enabling an even bigger stack to be built. A flaw in my game used to be that if I doubled up early I would sit too tight and everyone would catch up and overtake while I waited for a lock to get more. Nowadys I view it as a chance to get way ahead of the curve by exploiting my big M.
A 66% shot at doubling is huge. To those who would fold, what if the following situation occurred, first hand. you have KK utg and raise 4xbb, you get a call from the BB. Flop comes 723 and the BB pushes. Do you fold here?
A lot of the fold argument seems to be based on the ability to outplay opponents. Personally I consider getting my chips in with 66% outplaying them Statistics: Posted by Irexes — Fri Oct 06, 2006 3:05 am
