I've done stuff like this and you feel so good when it works, but when it doesn't, you feel like the biggest idiot in the world. With the size of the pot, he should have called you on the river because there is a small chance that you were doing what you were doing and most people won't drop their overpairs heads up. Count your blessings that he made the mistake to fold.

I really don't think he had a pair and was pushing a big A on you as I find it really hard to believe he wouldn't call that last bet on the river unless he was a complete fool with JJ. If he had the JJ I believe he would have check called the river on you but since he missed he was trying to represent the flush hoping you would fold. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

I will defend my BB heads up nearly every time so I definately don't have a problem with you calling here and you have position. What I like to do is raise if it's only the SB and I hit something on the flop or CR as the better will nearly always bet the flop regardless if he is in a later position and say an Ace doesn't flop. If I miss I will either just fold and wait for next time or if the board is real ragged I might call and go for a CR on the turn if another rag falls. It is very hard for someone to continue after you CR them on the turn IF they don't have anything and with rags it's very likely.

Play from the blinds can be a tricky thing but it is something you have to do well to step to the next level. Don't be afraid to defend but you have to learn how to best handle the situations after various types of flops and against various opponents and positions.

Remember that you don't have to hit a hand that often from the BB when defending heads up as you are getting from 3:1 to 3.5:1 on your preflop call. So don't be ashamed to fold after the flop if you completely whiff and the board is not to your liking to run a bluff.

You shouldve just check called your pair of nines on the end, just to steam him, and said SHIP IT! And when he whined just say, hey man, thats poker. Then maybe go on about how you had a pair draw, and picked up a gutshot, and you had odds to call.

There is no way that guy laid down Jacks. He played it like he was paired over, ill give you that- hes an aggro motherfucker, and someone to watch for IMHO. But I seriously doubt hed lay jacks--his having jacks is about as likely as you having queens. What hed more than likely do if he was paired over and the flushie card hit, instead of firing and then mucking to your raise, thus costing himself a bet without the benefit of seeing a showdown, is to just check it down. I mean wtf. The pot was a monster, theres no way he was not seeing your hand.

Im dunno bout the way you played this hand.. that board was so bad that i think id have called you down with Ace high.

Ill freely admit id have lost this pot if i were you...Id have flat called then mucked it, because the board was not worth bluffing at--i.e. if he had A8o, he might call you the whole way down on an awful board like that, and you had no pair/no draw. Im with peirs on blind defense generally, which is that if you totally whiff on a board thats bad to run a bluff on (almost nothings worse than 236...cept paired garbage like 224 or somthin)) its better just to muck. Bluffing on boards like that, at least in the games i play in, just endsup getting an ace high calldown. HITTING a board like that is profitable, of course, even if you had a pair of deuces, you should jam it, because AK will pay. At least for me though, ill just muck it here. This is also good because if you do that a few times, he's alot more likely to beleive you later when you do decide to run bluffs against him.

But wtf! You got stones, dude- ill give you that... He def. had your 9 high beaten (probly had AK/AQ or something) and if you bricked the river and raised his bet anyway, then youd have pushed him out of the pot probly. Actually, with that big of a pot and on that board, im surprised he didnt call station you with AK. I mean sure, it might be putting good money in after bad, but jezus. I almost think hed be correct to call there with Ahi no pair, but i dunno. Crazy ass hand.
