I've been playing 1/2 limit on Party for about 11k hands and I have had a lot of success. In the past, i had gone to 2/4 in the middle of this run and I was a marginal loser for a little over 1000 hands. i know this is a small sample size but I have a friend that plays very similar to me and he's had a lot of success at 1/2 but 2/4 always beats him up too.

I was wondering if the level of play at 2/4 is really that different or we are just having short term problems. Our theory is that since 2/4 is the normal limit you see in casinos (at least in Atlantic City), many new players start there so its a bit fishier than 1/2 so variance is higher. This could easily just be a desperate attempt to explain why we can't win. I got the bankroll and I'm looking to move up again.

Any Thoughts?

If you have the bankroll then move up. I play all of those limits form 12, 24, 36 and they are all just about the same. I suppect that your downturn at 24 is just a short term anomaly and I wouldn't worry about that if you are beating the game. Good luck.

Thanks. I've been playing 2/4 and 3/6 (occasionally 5/10) in the casino and have success but online at 2/4 wasn't treating me good. I do have the br and I will try moving up again.

Online - I feel you get more people trying to make fancy plays at 2-4 than 1-2. It also seems to get more gamb00lers. Otherwise they're all equally bad right up to 5-10 if you pick your tables well.

anyway... move up if you have the bankroll, and don't play with scared money. you'll get run over by some of these maniacs

I play 3/6 and occasionally 5/10 in the casinos but for some reason, when I tried to move up to 2/4 in the past, i played even poker. It took so long to get there because I wanted to "earn" my way there by playing through the smaller limits with my online bankroll. I started with $50 and i'm not up over $3000 in a year just online, which now includes 2/4. I've been playing it since the beginning of this month and i'm up almost 800 from it. I think I just needed a bigger sample and better table selection. GT+ helps too.
