I like call/raising just as much as raise/calling, probably. If he pickedup a spade draw on the turn and is betting it, then if you flat call him and he misses, you may induce a bluff and get the same amount out of him that you would have gotten had you raised the turn and bet a nonspade river (since hed have folded presumably). On the other hand, he might give up on the river if he misses then you have missed a bet (if he has a spade draw). If he has a worse king, then your plan nets just as much as a turn raise, since he probably wont muck a king no matter what.
So, all in all i think your line is kindof sideways EV. If hes got a hand that hes either not goign to bet with and/or call on the river, then youve lost a bet, but if he's managed to beat you or manages to beat you on the river you save a bet and if hes got a calling hand, then you make the same amount. Of course if he got trips then its going to endup costing you the same amount also, im guessing...so all in all, its pretty close.
