Who utterly despises my river cap on this hand? I'm not sure it's as bad as the results make it look. :?

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: TWSucks is BB with [9d], [Jh].
7 folds, SB completes, TWSucks checks.

Flop: (2 SB) [Qh], [Qd], [5c] (2 players)
SB checks, TWSucks checks.

Turn: (1 BB) [Kd] (2 players)
SB checks, TWSucks checks.

River: (1 BB) [Tc] (2 players)
SB bets, TWSucks raises, SB 3-bets, TWSucks caps, SB calls.

Final Pot: 9 BB

Results in white below:
SB has Kh Kc (full house, kings full of queens).
TWSucks has 9d Jh (straight, king high).
Outcome: SB wins 9 BB.

Obviously, my cap looks horrendous in hindsight, and it may well be...but I have trouble believing that most opponents would slow down and call my raise with bare trips. Ah well, shit happens.

I would have done the same, given how the SB played the hand.

Well I don't like your cap on the river and this is why.

You may have very well checked the flop with three Q but you are not going to check the turn with any kind of remote hand including 3 queens, a king, any other pair or perhaps even A high in my opinion so where does that leave you when you now raise the bet on the river? If I am the SB the MAXIMUM that I can put you on is AJ and you would have likely raised that preflop heads up so when he THREE bets you if he is any kind of player at all I don't think you can do anything but call.

Go through his head. Well I flopped 3 queens so I'll let old TW try to hang himself and just check the flop here. Well he checked that's ok let's see the turn. BAM now I have him nutted let's give him another shot to bluff because if I bet here here he is very likely just going to fold as I have the deck crippled. DAMN he checked again. Well I'll get him on the river perhaps for one bet. Bet, Old TW raises, WOW I am really going to like taking another bet off of him here, Holy Shit he capped me what a gift  he must have backed into a straight, lucky I played opossum that extra 10.00 river bet is going to buy me a couple of six packs of good brew tonight.

Oh, go back to your damned NL tables, ya Benedict Arnold!

Heh heh, just kiddin, Piers...you basically zeroed in on that unfortunate fact that, at the time, I really didn't even conduct a rudimentary analysis after his 3-bet. I kinda just figured "eh, he'd do that with trips..." And some would...but based on the action (or lack there of), you're right; any halfway-competent player is going to put on the brakes if he can't beat the low straight.

To chime in, I probably would have only called the 3 bet on the river. I would never have played the opponents hand like he did.

My opponent's play was a bit arguable, but I have no problems with his preflop limp. Unless the BB is a serious overdender, I don't mind limping in to try to make a few bets with KK as opposed to stealing the blinds. If I had played this way, I probably would've bet the flop, but I think his turn check was almost necessary (With 2 Q's and 3 K's accounted for, chances are slim that I caught a piece)...he basically just had to hope and pray I'd improve on the river...which, sadly, I did.
