Personally, I would have raised preflop. The flop is dangerous, although you have a lot of outs (any heart, jack). Problem is, that on the flop you might be behind to a straight or 2 pair, so I would raise to find out. If you get reraised you can still call. Additional advantage of raising is that you build a pot in case your hand is good, and that people will not put you on a flush if it hits. Finally, it gives you the option of taking a free card on the turn in case you don't like the turn card and need your flush to win.

Thanks for the feedback. I should have reraised on the turn. This was an extremely tight table and they would fall over like cardboard deer in the headlights. AA won me all of $2.00 on one hand. I was simply trying to draw them in, since I had the straight made and drawing to the nut flush. EDIT: Sorry, I had top pair top kicker. The Royal was a surprise.

Later on, another person at the table hit one. I've never seen one, at all, anytime. Two in one day. How strange is that?

Raising pre-flop would have lost me the Royal, I do believe.

I've had four royal flushes (all at party, surprise!).

In all four of those, I only used ONE hole card. Crazy crazy crazy crazy.
