9 handed, 5/10 Empire Poker

I'm dealt [Ah] [Js] in BB.

MP1 limps, CO limps, SB folds, I check.

Flop: [Jc] [3c] [3s]

I check, MP1 bets, CO folds, I raise, MP1 calls.

Turn: [Jc] [3c] [3s] [As]

I bet, MP1 raises, I call.

River: [Jc] [3c] [3s] [As] [Ac]

I bet, Mp1 raises, I reraise, he caps.

and I'm shown quad 3's. *bangs head into desk*

Hey Tib,

I have played a smattering of most limits up to and including 30-60 and down to 0.01-0.02 online. The highest limit that I play with regularity is 5-10. Honestly I don't see a huge difference between any of the limits although the higher limits tend to be slightly more aggressive but the frequent donkiness is still usually evident on every table to some extent. I do believe table selection to be alot more important as you move up though as well as seat selection which most of the time you can't do anything about but if you are watching a table and have to take a seat to the right of a maniac it is certainly not what you would select if given a choice but can still be adaptable. There is no sense in sitting at a table with everyone having a VIP less than 20% as there are so many other good tables to choose from.

Personally my play doesn't change much between limits although I am a little looser and trickier as I move up limits. The main time that I change playing philosophy is when I am dealing with a particular player, whether he is a rock, maniac or what have you. Playing with GT+ has helped tremendously in this area since I am usually playing 4 to 5 tables and would miss out alot on the finer points without it.

Just another suggestion as well. If you are playing for a living or for that matter just playing alot recreationally learn to play all the games proficiently. Sometimes I just get tired of playing limit holdem and can go find other profitable games be it NL holdem, the split games or stud. For those playing in a B&M setting with alot of choices this is even more critical as many times the biggest fish in the room happen to be playing another game and it will serve you well if you have more than a passing knowledge of how to play every game well so you can keep yourself in a very favorable money making position. When I was playing daily at the Mirage and Bellagio before the poker explosion where you could get a better read on the tables and lineups and not have to be on a waiting list for days I many times left the friendly holdem confines for the Stud tables when certain known donators at that game arrived.

Hope that helps some.
