This is a hand from an early session today. The raiser is a fairly tight player with high raising standards. I have AQs on the button which I am not a big fan of when having to call raises from this type of opponent but I decided to take a flop and see what happened. When the A hits the flop and my opponent checks he might as well flipped his cards over. This opponent was also good enough to be able to lay down an underpair to Aces from a bet by me as well so knowing what he held I decided the best move was a check on the flop in order to extract some more money from him while he was drawing slim and it worked to perfection. Against the more mundane players that will call all the way with KK when an Ace hits it is probably best to just go ahead and bet it through from the flop but against a more solid player who is capable of laying down a big pair alternative methods of handling the situation are usually better. Just another thought provoking idea that you should include in your arsenal of plays to maximize profit.
