Proceeding with a straight flush on the flop

Postby starstealer » Mon Apr 25, 2005 9:49 am

Okay - how about a hold'em hand to review from me.

I'm the SB with [5h][6h]. There are two limpers (the cutoff and button). The BB is not aggressive and has yet to raise a hand yet (let alone from the blinds).

The flop is [2h][3h][4h] so I've flopped the nut straight flush. How do you proceed? Obviously, this will be a scary flop for anyone without the flush redraw or a made flush here, so I check. The BB bets out and only the button calls - I call as well.

The turn is the [Kc] and I check again, BB leads out and the button calls. What's your action? Call? Raise?

I think the button and BB have shown enough interest in the hand to continue with it, and raising here could indicate a weak king as opposed to a flush or two pair. So I decided to raise - which both players called. On the river ([9d]), I lead out again and get called by both players.

The button shows [Ac][Kh] and BB mucks. I take the pot.

I think that's as good as you can play the hand. You got both of them to call 2 bb on the turn and the only way you might have gotten more action is if another heart, K or A hit but this might have been the most no matter what.
