I don't have much experience with this so take this advice as you will.

Check behind on the river. You will not fold a better hand, save that last bet.

But I just "knew for sure" he was calling to make the flush w/ his big spade.

He had Jh, 7c. Oh well.

well, you were screwed either way but you could have saved that bet to help make your heroic comeback.
