happy New Year, i was playing a lot of full ring $1/$2 limit over the holidays.
i usualy play SnG's but want to improve my cash game.
one of the players at a table i was playing was doing really well, what i observed about this guy, was his choice of starting hands. calling a lot of raises with suited connectors ie: 67s 79s 8 10s, 24s 45s he would crack AA , AK , KK,
my question is what % of "speculative" hands is optimum to play ?
can one generalize no more than once per orbit? has anyone worked out an optimum
% to play these hands
i usually reserve playing my speculative hands untill i get them on the blinds as i will either get a free or a cheap look at the flop. my VP$P is aprox 20%
ps: i have read SSHE and have had pretty good sucsess with it as a guide though it does state that most loosing hands are the slightly above average , average and below average, and they should have at least 2/3 of the following qualities High Rank, suitedness, and conectivity, the hands that are speculative usualy have 1/3
(i cant consider 78s as real flush draw as they wont give you the nuts)
any opinion or discussion would be appreciated
thanks
