Switching from UB to PP...

Postby EscapePlan9 » Fri Aug 12, 2005 9:26 pm

After exclusively playing LHE on UB for the past week, I've decided to give PP a try. The big inspiration was their EXTRA30 bonus code on your first deposit (30% up to 150). Now that I have cashed out all my other poker accounts (except UB) my NT account has over $500, I can make the $150 bonus.

I hear PP has the fishiest players by far. But I've also heard when there's a bonus reload (like now), the tables tighten up significantly. Can anyone confirm that? I only play .5/1 and 1/2 limit tables.

Also, is there any way to tell how loose tables are on PP without sitting in on the tables? Could I fire up GT+ on 4 of the tables, assign it to someone sitting on each table, and wait 20 hands or so? I just want to figure out the avg PSF.

I have never seen the tables tighten up at those limits ever, even during bonus time.

If u r used to playing at ub then any table u sit at pp will be loose by your standards. Maybe 1 table in 8 will be as tight as ub.
I do not think, therefore I am not.

Wow... PP is a COMPLETELY different experience than UB. People betting, raising, and calling with anything and everything. Then I just get the shit side of variance by having my middle set beaten by top set and other such bullshit. AGHHH!

I only played 272 hands so far... and I'm down 7.72 BB/100. This is fuckin ridiculous. Then again, I lost 12BB alone in the middle set with QQ beaten by top set with KK. I should have slowed down with the betting... and not played while still sobering up.

I won't even go into detail about the ludicrous calls people made and them sucking out on me. You've all seen it and heard it. And this variance is higher at PP than probably anywhere... so many terrible players.

Okay... I now love PP. In the last 40 hands I just made 35BB/100. Thank you variance!

I found the best combo. One complete maniac raising and re-raising every street, and two or more calling stations who will call 4-bets with low-pair, mid-pr, a-high, etc. This one maniac blew $175 in 35 hands!!!

Yeah, I understand that part. My question was more about the most efficient way to determine the VP$IP or average PSF of tables. That's what I don't like about PP... doesn't mention it right in the lobby.

wht limits are u playing?

I m a NL player and I do well there but the variance sucks!! I was playing some limit last month (1/2) and made a killing in party and affiliates. I made about 300 dollars in a feew hundred hands. Then broke even for a while and then loat 200 and then made 350. I ended up in the + side but damn! For a NL player of my style and stakes (TAG/0.5BB) losing 300 in a few hands is very hard. Some players at my tables told me that those swings are pretty "standard".

I dont think I couldnt handle it!.
