T4o in the BB. I flop good.

Okay, here's a hand I played recently at Party Poker. The limit is .5/1.

I get T:spade:4:club: in the BB and see a flop for free, along with the SB and 3 limpers. Limpers were UTG, MP, and CO.

Reads: MP3 is loose and bad. CO is okay, a little loose and definitely aggressive.

Flop comes T:club: 5:club: 4:spade:.

SB checks, I lead, UTG calls, MP calls, CO raises. SB folds and I 3-bet, MP comes along, and CO thinks for a second and caps. We both call.

I lead the turn, which is an offsuit deuce, with the suspicion that CO was playing a draw aggressively. Both call.

River is an offsuit 7 and I bet out. Thoughts so far? What's your plan if raised?

I'll post my reasoning later.

I say the only way you beat is if one of those players had [3c] [6c], or if someone had a set of 5s, although why they wouldn't raise the turn is beyond me, unless they're very passive and putting you on Ts.

I'd've played it the same way.
If you're gonna play trash, expect it to get taken out.

(I hate those people who quote themselves, but that's one of my original lines).

With no flush possible at the river I would probably bet out unless I fear A3 in MP or the CO. But CO looks more like a club draw than a straight, so I would put any oddball straights in MP if anywhere.

Since you bet out I by all means call a raise on the river, but would fold to a raise from MP and a re-raise from CO, you are beat at that point by either A3 or T7. T7s would seem a very possible holding for the CO as you described him and his play up to the river.

Analysis and results.

I felt that a raise on the turn after I lead into CO means I am beat by a set or, if a club hits, a flush. He is aggressive but not that out of line, or stupid.

When he just called, it confirmed my initial read. I was ready to give up on that read but it panned out. I wasn't worried about MP too much - he is calling with any piece of the board here so a 3 is one of many possible holdings. I think he would ONLY raise me with the mortal nuts here - probably wouldn't even raise the low end of the straight. So I can bet with confidence here.

Based on CO's near-reasonable play I did not expect him to have improved with the 7.

On the river, MP called, CO folded, and my hand was good. I later checked and MP mucked QT.
