Okay, preflop. I DO NOT want to hear about how I should've folded. I've checked my PT, and was saddened to see that limping suited connectors in the SB is marginally unprofitable for me at 3/6...but god damnit, I love 'em and I'm gonna keep doin it anyway.
On the flop, I figure my best bet is to bet, hoping to get raised by an ace. If more than one other opponent was in, I'd gladly 3-bet, but heads-up I decided to call and check-raise any non-ace turn. Well, the turn wasn't exactly pretty, but I stuck with my plan and check-raised, and then got slightly ill when he 3-bet. Should I have just figured I'm beaten at this point and fold on the river if I don't hit my 4-outer? I can't help but feel that this is the best option, but I couldn't bring myself to do it and paid off to see his shocking 55!
The REASON I couldn't bring myself to fold the river is hands like this one! Everytime I have a nice hand (two pair or better, sometimes even just an overpair) that looks like its beaten) I TRY to fold, but then remember hands like this one so I make the crying call. And most of the time, I lose! So, the $64,000 question is: should I go with my gut and fold in spots like this, or should I pay off due to the "idiot factor" as some call it? And don't give my any "it depends" bullshit, either! I know it fucking depends on my opponent, but let's assume for the sake of argument that I'm morally/religiously opposed to using GT+.
