Well, I wont it, but I wont it ugly. I post as penance and for comment.

Oh yeah, villain is new to the table. I haven't seen him play a hand yet.

Prima .25/.50 limit

Hero in BB with [8h][8s]
Villain in SB

Folds to villain, who raises to .50, Hero raises to .75, villain raises to 1.00, Hero calls

Flop [Ah][7h][Qh]

villain checks, hero bets .25, villain calls

weakness?

turn (2.50) [8c]

villain checks, hero bets .50, villain raises to 1.00, we cap it.

river (6.50) [5c]

villain checks, hero checks

Villain flips over [Ad][Qc]
Hero takes home 6.08 after rake

Comments? Should I have bet that river?

I hate these blind pissing contests, I always seem to have some cheese, catch enough of the flop to imagine I might be good and run into someone with a hands like yours!

I think after the preflop raising you really needed a reason to stay in on the flop. Having said that when he checks it I am betting to fake the ace or flush. I figure he might have gone ballistico preflop with a med pocket pair like yours and you're now giving him a really good reason to drop the hand now.

You hit pay dirt on the turn so after that all you are worried about is the flush but I think you played it well checking down on the river. Its one of those you are either a country mile ahead of behind if he has the flush. I am assuming if you hit the boat you are betting but otherwise I like it.

I think that in these situations whenever you have a legit hand you should play maybe a little harder than normal. If it were a multi-way you would prob assume someone had the flush and if not fold then play it cheaper. One on one I am pushing and taking the beats when he does have the hand. There are so many low limit players who treate these like "who has the bigger dick" contests it makes putting someone on a hand next to impossible. If I have it I go to war, if I am not sure I will check/call it down. Its the one of the nicer aspects of limit.

Yeah, my river betting overall is weak. I'm working to fix that.

I have run into a lot of people who seem to call, call, call... check/raise on the river when they've had it the whole time. I've decided that while that pisses me off, losing a bet on the river when I have one coming pisses me off more.

I bet that river because I doubt he would check to you with a flush after capping the turn. He is likely playing an ace he thinks is good (AQ in this case for 2 pair) but in heads up hands, people are overaggressive with marginal hands so I definitely bet because he isn't dropping now.
