Maybe I should have 3 bet preflop but I was looking for a good flop before I continued. I put him on a big pocket pair, AK or AQ.

I went for a check raise because i thought I could best find out where I am there. If he had AK/AQ, he would call or fold. If he had an overpair, he would likely 3 bet if its strong, or just call if its 88-TT or JJ. He 3-bet so I'm worried about if my QQ if strong enough.

Well, if he had JJ, he hit, otherwise, I'm not ahead of much anymore. He could have AK/AQ spades and I'm screwed also.

This card was a nightmare. If he had AK, he filled up. Everything but AQ, QQ (unlikely), TT, 99 or 88 has me beat and I can't see him playing these hands like this. I chose to fold.

Comments? Would you have check/called to end? called if a card lower than King hit the river? Fold at any other point? I would have called if a King or Ace didn't hit the river since almost any hand I was ahead of at that point got there.

I would have three bet preflop in an attempt to get it heads up. By just calling you are enticing the BB to call also with a large variety of hands and well as the other preflop limper.

When you chose not to raise preflop I would have led out into the raiser and if he raised then three bet the flop and perhaps trap the limper here for a dead bet if he called your initial bet. If the raiser then caps your flop 3 bet you have a very good idea where you are at and it's not very pretty:) I just think you gain more information by you 3 betting than by him. If he caps the flop then I call and look to spike the Q and if not I am probably done with the hand.

By him getting the 3 bet in on the flop you still don't really know as much. Perhaps he has 88, 99, 1010, JJ and is just betting his overpair hard and if YOU cap you still gain no further information because it kills the betting.

If you had got in the three bet instead on the flop and he doesn't cap then you can be the aggressor and bet when the J and flush gets there. If you get raised then you are done for 1 big bet and know with confidence that you are beat. By allowing him to be the aggressor he would still bet hands here that you beat like 88, 99, 1010 because the J really isn't much of a scare card the way the hand was played thus far.

I don't think the K changes much of anything (I don't put him on AK) as you were either behind to a set or a bigger pair or ahead to 88-1010 before that hit and I think you are still in the same positiion but by not being the 3 better on the flop or the turn aggressor you don't have a clear idea.

I think if you just call the turn bet here you also call the river. Be the agressor with your 3 big overpairs until you are shown that perhaps they are not the best hand. First mistake was not three betting preflop. The second was by CR the flop you let the other limper out for nothing else when you could have potentially trapped him for 1 small bet and you didn't gain the maximum information which clouds your play the rest of the hand. Find out where you are on the cheap street before the bets double. Hope that helps a little bit. Good luck.

I normally do play the hand like you say, but for some reason, being out of position, I got passive and it cost me. Normally, if i'm in doubt, I error on the side of aggression because that way, I can win the hand by making him fold and ofter only cost me one more bet if I'm wrong, but wins me a bigger pot if I'm right.
