My only reads... CO was semi-loose and BB was very loose.

I wasn't happy with CO 3-betting me, but it's still more likely he just has overcards like AQ or AK.

On the flop I was hoping CO would overplay a-high or go for a "free card" play and force the moron BB to have to call two cold. Instead he wanted me to know all he has is a-high so far. I had no idea what BB had, but with no aggression shown throughout, I just had to assume my 88 is best.

In retrospect, there still was a good chance I was being 3-bet by TT+, so perhaps leading the flop was a poor plan? Not sure...

Personally, I don't ming flop anf turn betting but I'd check-call the river, you can either induce a bluff or be raised by a hand that beats yours, costing you 1 BB.

Also, checking lets you see what the CO does and what the BB does after him. If CO bets and BB raises then you have a fold, as the BB is expecting you to bet, a check raise with a nine would be my move if I was in the BB.

i agree with molina.

Some reads on how aggressive these guys play postflop would be helpful, but based on the information at hand, I much prefer a river bet than a river check call. CO that is capbable of 3-betting preflop, is almost always going to raise your flop bet on that board if he has an overpair. And, if the BB has a 9 (or better) you will usually hear from him on the turn. If you check, since the pot is 3-way (protected), you are far less likely to get a hand like AK, A7, 66 to bet, but they will often call your bet. The only hands that are likely to bet are hands that have you beat. So you make nothing when ahead and lose a bet when behind.

Yes, sometimes (not very often, imo) you will get raised, and then you will not be happy that you bet. If the action when bet, call, raise...I would likely fold. If the action went bet, raise, cold call...I would probably fold. If the action went bet, raise, fold.....I would probably call.
