I get dealt in MP

bunch of limpers to Tightguy who raises to $8 preflop. I call directly behind him. The BB loosebastard calls as well. everyone else drops. the flop is 3-way.

Looks like a good flop for my jacks with the J of diamonds.
loosebastard checks, Tightguy bets $10. I raise to $30 hoping to take it down. The more I think of it..this raise should have been $40. Anyway:

loosebastard folds
tightguy reraises me to $60 which makes it $30 to go for me. He has $32 left in his stack. I go into deep-thought mode for the millionth time in my short poker experience.

I check pokertracker quick...this guy has been dealt 20 hands and this is the first flop he has seen. By his min. reraise, not an all-in, it makes it look like his hand needs no protection. I figure he probably has [Ah] for top pair possible with nut flush draw. But then I think..this is Party...these guys are morons!

Anyway, long story short I folded. I figured even if he has something like AK...one of his cards were probably a diamond and I was only around 50/50 anyway.

Seems like an easy fold now but it was painful at the time.

Any thoughts guys?

I would have had a hard time calling that re-raise. You can't feel comfortable about your flush draw, and it does look like his hand doesn't need much protection since all his bets and raises are a little small compared to the pot (but he never backed down).

It looks to me like he wanted you to call or raise his bets. It's fairly rare for someone to bluff on a single suited board. I agree that he probably either had a made hand that beat you, or at least a draw for the flush with some overcard outs as well.

From what you've said yourself, the guy is no loose goose, first hand played in 20, that is extremely tight, then again I play 6 handed so that might change things.

From the description, I'd say that anyone who can fold 20 hands in a row and then come alive in a major way, including preflop has you beat on the flop, be it a set, flush or over pair to your jacks.

I'm don't think raising to $40 would have helped, you would surely have been raised again, personally I think that's $10 you saved.

A good and correct fold in my opinion, it's easy in those types of hands to dig your heels in and think 'I don't know what the guys got but how can my overpair be beaten?'

I've never given advice in a poker forum before, hope i don't sound patronising!

I say I should have raised $40 because it is 3 times his bet and puts a lot more pressure on him. You're right though, this hand I just saved myself $10
