ok. My opponent in this hand has $500 on the table, something that's pretty rare on PS. he's kinda loose, but i dunno about terribly. he's shown a tendancy to be trickey sometimes too, though i wouldn't really call some of the "tricks' he's pulled as advanced, more lucky on most of them.
I have just over a full stack at the table, nothing special though i've been here for a while.
I'm dealt [Ks] otb.
utg limps. big stack raises to $4. i call. everyone else folds. heads up flop.
$10 pot
.
he checks. i'm a little confused by this but decide to fire out $7 and find out where i'm at. He smooth calls. hmm....
$24 pot
turn - we need a card to represent a blank. any way to do this ice? anyhow, turn's a blank.
i fire out $18 this time. once again, he smooth calls. ok, now i'm definatly getting some warning bells here. I'm 'starting to think JJ more and more. But i've also seen him call big bets with inside straight draws and flush draws, so who knows.
$60 pot
river - he checks. i check behind him.
Is anyone betting here?
He shows and i drag the pot.
The reason i'm posting this is i feel i'm checking far too many pots on the river out of fear of a check raise, and feel that i'm loosing a lot of potential money in the process. Far too often i see a hand that would likely have called a moderate sized bet, but that i checked anyways out of fear of being shown two pair or check raised by a monster - especially when i've shown aggression through most of the hand.
Ice - perhaps you could post a topic on value betting the river. I know this is a huge leak in my game and would love to be able to crack it.
