Being a total ass works....

Postby Kurab » Thu Nov 11, 2004 10:16 pm

Now in general I am usually pretty quite at a table I dont like to chat much. But I have been reading Killer Poker by JV and he talks about poeple being asses.

Well, I sat down at a .50/1 NL table at UB and there was someone there with a handle Yankswin.... Now this I could not resist since I am a big Red Sox fan I figured I might put him on tilt if I attacked.

Well it worked better then I could of hoped for...was looking at AQ on the button, I limped along with Yank boy...

Flop is Axx .. all check to me I bet pot ...nice thing is that it could look like a steal. Only caller is Yank boy...Turn was a brick and I fire another pot bet - now he comes over the top of me for the rest of my $$ - I call and scoop and double up. His hand A4o.....

Sweet.......

Yeah, it's definitely effective, usually if someone says something out of order I'll have a go at them or they're one of those that always throw out an 'fu' when they lose a hand. I find that by tackling the potty mouth (really giving them hell) then it seems to loosen my table image, bets are called more, which with my style, is a good thing.

Though the thing I find is best for being given action when you want it is having a 3xmax stack, every bet you make seems to get called because people think you're trying to run over the table, without a thought of how you got such a big stack.

I don't know...

I always find the taunting distasteful. It might possibly help the bankroll a little, but I just don't feel comfortable taunting and giving people crap...unless they themselves are taunting people.

Then, I feel it's ok to rip them a new one...

Taunting

IN general I agree with you it is something that I almost never do - because usually I am quite bad at it - just in this situation there was an easy target
