3 NL Hands

All hands at Party $25 NL

One limper and I on the button w/ KJ. I have a stack of $25. BB has $40.

Flop
Jd 4c 7s rainbow

It is checked to me and I purposely bet $1 into the $2 pot. The BB calls and its folded around. I expect the BB to lead out for a pot sized bet on the turn.

Turn is a 2h. It looks like a good card and as expected the BB leads out for $3. I think this is my biggest mistake. I only re-raise to $7 and he calls. The river is a 9 and he checks to me. I bet $5 and he raises me to $15. I guess I should fold at this point, but I call and he has J9.

Hand 2

I limp along with 3 others plus the blinds w/ KQ in MP. I have a stack of $35. The player i'm involved with has $18.
Flop
KsQs5d.
I think about checking it in MP, but then think better of it with so many draws out there. I overbet the pot slightly to $3. It is called by the button. I have notes on him as limping with any suited cards so I suspect he is on a flush draw.
Turn is an offsuit J. The pot is around $8-$9 and the button has $13 left. I bet $10 leaving the button w/ $3 left. At this point, do you just push the button all in or do you bet the pot? If I bet the pot I still have to call the $3 even if a flush/straight card hits, but I also want him to call. Anyway, the river was an Ace and I pushed in his last $3 and he turned over J10.

Hand 3
I limp w/ AdJd on button with 5 limpers

Flop
4d5dJc

This is a great flop, however, the SB leads out for $4 a MP player calls $4 cold. I decide to raise strong (after my weak raise in Hand 1) and I raise to $12 and BOTH call! I'm not feeling too great about my hand at this point. The turn is a 6s. They check to me and I bet $9 putting both players all in. They both call. The river is a Kh.
SB turns over QJ and the MP turns over 1010.

I think you messed up hand 1 in MANY ways. First of all, I would bet pot on the flop. Bets made by the button are generally respected less, so you would likely get action from any Jack and possibly a 7. Besides, do you REALLY want that much action with the marginal hand that you have? On the turn, you probably need to raise to $10 and fold to any re-raise. You don't want to get called when you raise, and nobody will fold for $4 more when they just bet $3. I would actually consider folding the turn but since you had a read on the player I would go with it. On the river, where the pot is $18, you REALLY need to check. There is absolutely no point in betting $5, as it leaves you to be checkraised whether opponent has you beat or not. You have a showdown hand. Check and take the free showdown.

I think Hands 2 and 3 were played fine. I would probably have put opponent all-in in hand 2 but I really don't think it makes much of a difference as I would expect him to raise the $3 more if I bet $10 into him. Either way, you got your money in with the best of it and you got outdrawn. The only thing is I wouldn't have bet the last $3.

Mad Genius is right about not wanting to underbet on your first hand, so I'll leave that one alone.

Your second hand I probably would have put him all in on the turn. When I "know" my opponent is drawing I want him to know that he is playing for all of his chips--especially when he has not much more than a pot bet.

The third hand I like your raise on the flop. Just because the SB leads up doesn't mean he has 4-5 or 2 pair. MP is who I would be concerned about. I think that because there is a cold caller in between the SB and you making it $16 to go instead of $12 isn't out of the question, but that that might be a little over the top in terms of stack size at your level. If they are calling the $12 which puts them basically all on the turn anyways I guess it doesn't matter.

Hand 1:

I think you should bet more on the flop and turn (full pot bets would be better in both instances, no need to get tricky with a vulnerable hand which nonetheless figures to be good), and check the river. Once you're check-raised here I think you have to fold, unless you have this guy on "previous convictions" for making audacious steal-raises. I don't think betting $5 here is dreadful on party 25NL as you'll often be called by weaker hands (a full pot bet would be too heavy I think), but I think I would marginally prefer to protect the $18 already invested by seeing a free showdown. At games better than party 25NL this would be a horrible river bet as you're unlikely to get called by a weaker hand (after you show strength on the turn), and may be bluff-raised off it.

Playing KJo, even from the button, is a tad marginal, but with only 1 limper it's OK I think. A couple more limpers and I think the chances of KQ or AJ being out are high enough to convince you to fold.

Hand 2:

Think you played it fine and could consider putting him in on the turn. Only worry is that he has AT, and if that's the case I think you have to take your lumps. The J is a good card as it can put out a straight draw if he has a T, or 2 pair with KJ or QJ, and net you a call for the rest of your stack. No need to bet the last $3 on the river, but I think he was moving in anyhow so you'd be making the easy call regardless.

Again, KQo in MP is a little marginal. Very over-rated hand, that. With no raisers at least there's a good chance there's no AQ or AK out, so I don't mind calling PROVIDING there are no aggressive players yet to act.

Hand 3:

I think you played this well. Aggression is always a good thing when people are fishing in with mediocre and poor hands! At Party 25 I think you should be prepared to put your stack in after hitting the board so strong and take your lumps if someone has an unlikely set or 2-pair. Once there's two opponents in this hand going all-in for the last $9 on the turn is a no-brainer, IMO. Nicely played, maximised your winnings after what was a premium flop for your hand.
