I want to title this 33 on a flush flop, but...

Postby Danhdan » Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:52 am

that was the title of a SNG forum message earlier, and so I title this...How to push all-in with no outs!

Thought I would catch a flop here w/ a small pair. BB raised and I liked my position, so three of us took the flop...I went all in on the turn to punish him for a draw if he had an Ace King, the pot was big enough for me to protect, and I had a feeling my FH was good. No good read on the player, but it seemed his play was pretty tight although he had shown a few Ace-good kicker hands...

I need more reads...guy raised to $2 in BB w/ AA...guess I am seeing too much raising at Party where AA is pretty obvious, and when I usually hit my set and an Ace falls, I get excited about taking a stack against AK...thought I played the turn well because I still feel ahead, and like to make a move when the turn looks safer w/ a flush flop...another spade comes and I am very cautious. Anyway...can't complain...was behind the whole way through, although it didn't feel like it...back to building the payroll again.
Any way I get away from this hand at any street? Do I not push the turn? Anyone out there who doesn't get their stack taken here?
Did have to take a break from that one...felt like a kind of stun shot seeing his quads light up the board. Had to watch TV w/ my brain freeze.
Thanks for your comments...

I can't see how you can get away from this; only hands that beat you are A8, 88 and AA, and I believe he's only raising AA out of those from the BB. I would consider raising the flop because I think you're very likely ahead here, but nothing at all wrong with your move on the turn. 90% of the time he'll be drawing dead or to 4 outs with Ax. There's something to be said for slowplaying your boat, even, to make him think that his flush is good if he catches one on the river, but that's a moot point... I figure you're playing this hand wrong if you don't lose your stack here.
