Was I too weak?

Postby Kurab » Fri Nov 12, 2004 10:08 am

.25/.50 NL at UB

I have not been at the table long, the SB was loose was all I knew at the time and all our stacks were about even.

I get [5h][5d] in EP I limp , one behined me limps and the SB calls and the BB checks.

Flop comes [4c][5s][2d] - Great top set but damm scarry board.

The BB bets .50, and I raise to 2 - loose player calls and the BB reraises to 3.50 - hmm I sense trouble - either a 2 pair which I beat or a draw or worse a 63 or 67 - totally within reason from an unraised blind. So I go into call mode.

Turn brings the [3d] - Aww crap now I am in trouble....

The loose player leads with 3.75 bet (well he has an A) then BB then raises to 7.50.

Now I know he did have 63 or 67 and I figure that if I want to see the river I am going to have to play for the rest of my stack. So I fold.

The SB then reraises all in and the BB calls quickly.

The river of course brings a [4d] pairing the board.

The SB had [As][9h] and the BB had [3s][6c]

Was I too weak?

Is that a typo or did you misread the board? It must be a typo as the 2 dropping on the turn would make a boat which is fantastic for you. I dont see much wrong till the turn, its the same way I would play it (Except that I might pass on the 55 from EP, but I would assume you would toss the 55 pre flop if you were raised significantly).

I can not comment after the turn as I am not yet sure if its a typo or not?

Oh yea typo there - it was the 3d....post in now fixed

Yea, in these games I love seeing a cheap flop. Will always fold to heat unless there are a few callers with good stacks so I am getting a good price (and even then I will not call really large bets). You lose to an overset sometimes but can do great damage to overpairs on non scary flops.
