Dealing to yourself

I was sitting around watching the Amazing Race premiere with the wife and grabbed a deck of cards and started dealing myself hand after hand of 9 handed Hold'em. As I was doing this it really hit me that when you get a nice hand how many crappy hands there are that have been dealt. Of course there were a few when I deal out 3 or 4 monsters and that made me realize how far behind you can be even when you get JJ. Was just wondering if anyone else has done or even still does and what they take/took from it.

It all about folding, that magic flick of the wrist. I'll go through a deck two cards at a time, stacking all the hands that make a starting hand in one stack and the rest of the cards in another. Do it several times before the game and you will not plan on playing to many pots. You will notice that what appears to be a dry spell or a boring spell of a lot of folding. This is the norm if you are playing correctly. Johnny Hughes

I actually did this for about 2 full days when i had mono last year. I stayed home from school and dealt hand after hand i actually did the flop, turn and river to, and kept a record of the hand i had like 6 pages front and back of information. I threw the paper but i learned a lot from doing this as tedious as it was
