Why he called preflop is a mystery, but your huge over bet looks like you had AK and missed which is probably why he called.
I had a hand not too long ago playing $2/$4 NL where a limped with QQ then called a raise to $18. There was another caller so the pot was $55 or so. The flop was K62. It got checked to the preflop raiser who went all in for $200 or so. I almost called but couldnt do it. He showed AQ. I bet thats what he thought you were doing.
