Wow, Beavis. That's a lot of hostility.

My point was that this is some history that white people tend to forget, if we ever knew it. It might be worthwhile to keep it in mind when thinking about race. That's all.

The rest of your questions belong in the other thread, the one that's about Obama and his pastor.

ant, did you check out the link at all? The point is that a lot of the unbelievably awful racism of the US isn't ancient history at all, but stuff that has happened very recently.

Jim Crow laws aren't ancient history.

Lynching of black men by white people while the cops look the other way -- not ancient history.

The Tuskegee study -- not ancient history.

This is recent history. Within the lifetime of a lot of black people who are alive today. You think this stuff didn't mark them for life? You think it doesn't affect how they raised their children?

Check out the links and then imagine if you thought that those sorts of things could happen to you, and the government would either look the other way or actively participate, just because of your race.
