This formation is very well timed, if ever the gambling cojones of the british have been questioned then this week we have been vindicated.

This was displayed in britains favourite soap opera 'Coronation Street' when a friendly game of cards in the back room of a pub turned into a war of machismo. The friendly game of 5 card draw climaxed in a hand between the 'God of Chavs' Mike Baldwin and Fred Elliot. The hand involved both players changing 1 card each, Mike asked if they were really playing with "no limits", assured by Fred that they were, Mike raised Fred all the cash on the table. Unimpressed by this, Fred was convinced Mike was bluffing and proceeded to raise his car for Mikes car, Mike was not as shocked as he should have been, though Fred thought he was sure to fold. Until... Mike reraised by betting his factory fo Freds butchers. Fred was surprised, though called suddenly turning quite happy as he turned over, one card at a time, his queen high straight flush! Fred looked happy with himself when he slowly turned over his royal flush to get the lot!

An example to all british poker players.

Who's for a game of five card draw?

I can't.

I lost my mansion, car and business when Ken Barlow slow played a full house against my flush...

If television has taught us anything it that only a maximum of twenty quid should be risked unless you hold four of a kind, nines or better preferably. Every lower hand than this is marginal.

I despair when I see reckless gamblers like Dewey Tomko, Ron Rose and TJ Cloutier on the WPT, risking their chances on one or two pair, they'd be a lot more successful if only they waited for quality hands like a full house even, if they wanted to give a wild image, then they be willing bet for more than plastic tokens.

Hey, Y'all. Can I join up as an honorary Brit? I can do the accent a little while. I've played lots of Brits in Vegas, very courteous people and good players.

The Clash came to visit here once and I worked on their Cockney accents. If someone detected that I was no actually English, well it would add to the mystery of your crew, not to mention elevate the play.

Do y'all know this gorgeous woman named Victoria that is a poker player and a writer? She's the leader of a group of young British people who play predictably tight.

I assume that's Victoria Coren, she freelances for British Cosmo, the Observer and plenty others. She's appeared on Late Night Poker and some other UK poker programmes and quite often is the advocate of poker or the newer relaxed gambling laws in the UK on numerous news shows.

From what I've seen on TV her game is generally tight and predictable, I think she has some kind of sponsorship from Paradise Poker.

How come America has heard of Vicky?

Doubtless I'm being inept but here's a link to a picture of her

Is this the one? Are you implying she's got a colossal ego? Dish all the dirt you can, I've got a few friends who think she's a good columnist for the Observer (myself included I suppose). I have read her book where her and a friend create and direct what sounds like a catastrophic porn film. Funny book though!

What games does she play at Binions?

What's your opinion of Binions, post takeover?

Why don't you Brits set a time to meet in a London casino some weekend?

You could polish up your game and plan a later meeting for all bet the pot types in Las Vegas?

As for Binion's, I wrote an article entitled LEAVING DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS available on this web site. On the front page, hidden way down in the corner, are some articles.

At the World Series, there are all types of Englishmen. I play the $2,$5 blind no limit and the $1.$2 blind no limit which seems popular with Brits. I also play the Ten and Twenty limit and there are several young Brits in all these games. Besides Binion's, the young Englishmen played a lot at the Golden Nuggett. Down town is cheaper and it is easy to walk around and play several casinos. Sometimes I'll take the bus out to the Bellagio and a cab back. It is scary with any type bankroll. Victoria runs with a crew that have been there the last few years. Some are from Manchester.

My admiration for the British players is based on their good manners, unruffled demeanor, and winning.
