Of course, Saddam wanted Iran to think that he still had WMD capability, so if there really was an Iranian source, maybe they were passing on info they believed to be true.

This of course assuming that he had no capability in the run up to the war and the intellegence on moving material out that was later to be used in the plot against Jordan where wrong.

The bungling from the state department, the defense department/pentagon, and the complete mismanagement and lack of oversight by the Bush administration and the lack of interest in seized documents means we may never really know WTF happened. :p
