I was reading through someone's blog and they had made reference to this site. Someone that was working behind the scenes with it...it may have even been iceman's, blog but I'm not sure.

One thing I absolutely love about this site is the fact that my work's firewall doesn't block it. This site definitely helps the time pass. Just about every other poker site is blocked. I am glad that I came across this site though, as I must say it's one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable communities around!

HEY!!! Where's the "read Monk's stuff on other forums and I play omaha" option? lol

Anyhoo, I got invited here by someone and it sounded like a good idea, was unsure about leaving the place I was currently moderating a forum after being offered the omaha spot here but the whole lack-of-bullshit-and-flaming idea appealed to me, and the forum kinda took off. Looks very good to me so far. I like the lack of nonsense (outside of the anything goes forum), I like the fact that incorrect content can be argued or corrected without the need for flame wars. I like the fact I'm at a site whereby I feel I can post a NL question and get replies that improve my game, rather than patronise me or regurgitate the same ABC line. I like the fact that there's people here whose opinions carry serious weight, and many of those people play very small games.... I like the fact you can elucidate that from their CONTENT, rather than their reputation or their ability to flame others. That, in terms of informative material, is golddust.

I like the fact I've finally found a forum on which I can reveal Tightwad's latent and predatory homosexuality, and ensure that anyone caught in the messy crossfire knows the score. These things all MEAN something.

I'd love to get some more high level PLO players at this site who can really teach ME something, I know there's several of them around the online scene but they unfortunately tend to subsist on forums which are populated by vast numbers of flamers/dicks/morons, so it's not always easy to sift the wheat from the chaff. BTP has certainly done a better job than anywhere else online, however. I'm also consistently amazed by how damn GOOD some of the guys here playing the $25 PLO and PLO8 games (and up to the 100 games) are - some of these guys are seriously intelligent poker players, there's some GREAT strategy discussion going on in the omaha forum. Amazes me every day, Gooper, JD, heck, a hell of a lot of posters, very seriously talented players, believe me. I'm really impressed that ideas pop up now and again in the omaha forum that I haven't considered, and make me think, "damn, that guy has REALLY come up with something that might help my game".

Great site and you deserve all the cash you're making James & Jeff, gotta appreciate folks seeing a niche and filling it this effectively. Best of luck to ya!

I actually got word of this place through my brother. I posted on a couple of small sites, but I was one of the few people that were actaully decent poker players, and I found myself giving a lot and learning very litte. My little bro told me about UPF and I read and posted there on and off. I stopped reading it for good about a month before this site opened. I got sick of spending and hour sifting through posts til I found something actually related to poker. I had read a lot of Ice's stuff on UPF, and when my brother told me Ice had started his own site. I had to check it out.

I really appreciate BTP, I was thrilled to post at a site where there were players that were a lot better than I was. I have always gotten constructive criticizm when I post a hand where I did something dumb. And even when I dont agree with what someone says about something, there is no flaming, trash talking or comments about someones mother. Not that this site is all serious and no play, I also love being able to talk trash in TW jounal and in the anything goes section.

I joined because I read Monk's stuff on other forums and I play omaha.

Someone on Full Contact Poker (Negreanu's site) mentioned the articles on BTP. I did a quick Google search and found it quite easily. I got a bit cross-eyed the first few days reading all of the articles and some of the journals.

The lack flaming and a large amount of cogent poker discussions here really appeals to me. FCP seems to thrive on flame content, so there is very little actually to read. I still glance through it looking for interesting sites (still find some good blog links). Negreanu's bizarro blog is nothing short of priceless.

I found it from Pokertracker where I read Excessions (Andy's) stuff on BTP.

I then started working on my own 6-max rules, Andy & APerfect10 helped me a bunch, and I said," who are those helpful guys over there anyway?"

Been here since. Then I found out Ice was a Texan so I just had to stay.

BR has doubled since I read my first post.

The best thing about Tightwad's posts is that reading them makes me reminiscent for the last time I kicked his ass in a WCOOP satellite*. Ah, happy days

Came over from the poker forum with Johnny Hughes. I had been with many other Forums and was looking for a home that didn't flame and spam. I was so tired of the do you think I should turn Pro threads.

I also had to get away from KOKO the Gorilla and MavsMAn before I tracked them down and kicked there asses.

This site showed all the promise of being the best poker forum on the net and it exceeded that promise.

But the real reason I stay is for the anything goes section and the great moderating job none by TW. The Poker stuff is good but you can learn things in that section that you can't get anywhere else.

I bought Poker Tracker back in January and found the PT guides linked to this site. I registered an account under Nathan_hicks in February and basically became a BTP lurker. After a while I forgot I was registered here and reregistered as Stealth. Now the only time I use the SN nathan_hicks is while I'm at work since it's where I origionally signed up.

Before that I hung around 2+2 and some other forum that I don't recall. I got sick of the constant flaming and the holier than though attitude at 2+2, so I came here. The only time I go back to 2+2 is to check out the WPT forum. This is by far the best poker forum on the net and I am truley thankful to all the great players willing to share their insights and wisdom.

You guys have no idea how glad Im am that you guys feel at home here. It means alot to me and Im sure it does to tetsuo as well.
