Just finished up a 2.5 hour session of 4 tabling NL25, totally smashed it and ended up x4 buyins, although it should have been x5, such is life.

My biggest loss came as a bit of a surprise, I got stacked when a guy hit trips on the turn, after my reraise preflop I really didn't put him on the 5:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (4 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

SB ($19.85)
Hero ($25.80)
UTG ($33.94)
Button ($38.46)

Preflop: Hero is BB with QImage, AImage. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
1 fold, Button raises to $1, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2.75, Button calls $2.

Flop: ($6.10) AImage, 5Image, 8Image (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $4, Hero calls $4.

Turn: ($14.10) 5Image (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $9, Hero calls $25.55 (All-In), Button calls $9.80.

River: ($58.45) 9Image (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $58.45

Results:
Hero has Qc Ah (two pair, aces and fives).
Button has 6d 5d (three of a kind, fives).
Outcome: Button wins $58.45.

My biggest win of the session was rather exciting, I had some really aggro players left to act after me, so I limped UTG with KK intending to reraise, fortunately they did all the work for me. I knew when the ace hit on the flop I was behind, but was feelin fine after the turn card:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Button ($18.65)
SB ($72.07)
BB ($6.25)
UTG ($5.35)
Hero ($45.30)
CO ($24.50)

Preflop: Hero is MP with KImage, KImage. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
UTG calls $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, Button calls $18.65 (All-In), 2 folds, UTG folds, Hero calls $45.30 (All-In), CO calls $24.50 (All-In).

Flop: ($89.55) 5Image, 3Image, AImage (3 players, 3 all-in)

Turn: ($89.55) KImage (3 players, 3 all-in)

River: ($89.55) 8Image (3 players, 3 all-in)

Final Pot: $89.55

Results:
Hero has Kh Kd (three of a kind, kings).
CO has Jc Ac (one pair, aces).
Button has Ks Ah (two pair, aces and kings).
Outcome: Hero wins $89.20.

I don't know what the hell the CO was thinking when he called two all-in players with AJ, thanks for the donation :)

After my earlier successful session I couldn't help but jump on for another 1.5 hour shot, this time at NL50. I know bankroll not big enough blah blah blah but it was fun. Fun because winning 50% of your bankroll in 1.5 hours kicks large amounts of ass.

I ran hot hot hot, didn't make anything other than a few small mistakes either.

The biggest losing hand

I actually quite like how I played this hand, always a good thing when its your "biggest loser" for a session. On the turn I felt my overs probably counted toward the outs and it was worth a call.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($55.70)
MP ($49.50)
Hero ($122.70)
Button ($51.15)
SB ($106.66)
BB ($90.54)

Preflop: Hero is CO with QImage, KImage. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
2 folds, Hero raises to $2.5, 1 fold, SB (poster) calls $2.25, BB calls $2.

Flop: ($7.50) 2Image, 4Image, 8Image (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $6, SB folds, BB calls $6.

Turn: ($19.50) JImage (2 players)
BB bets $8, Hero calls $8.

River: ($35.50) TImage (2 players)
BB bets $8, Hero folds.

Biggest Winning Hand

Hands up who likes to flop the nuts in a three way pot? I didn't attempt to inflate the pot on the flop and made my turn bet small enough to keep both players in for the river shove. Both used up all their available time on the river, one fold, one call.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

SB ($35.50)
BB ($55.51)
Hero ($53.35)
MP ($52.70)
CO ($115.16)
Button ($88.04)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with JImage, AImage. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
Hero calls $0.50, MP raises to $2, 2 folds, SB (poster) calls $1.75, BB calls $1.50, Hero calls $1.50.

Flop: ($8) KImage, QImage, TImage (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets $4, Hero calls $4, MP calls $4, SB folds.

Turn: ($20) 8Image (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $12, MP calls $12, BB calls $12.

River: ($56) 2Image (3 players)
BB checks, Hero calls $53.35 (All-In), MP folds, BB calls $35.35.

Final Pot: $144.70

Results:
BB has Jh Ks (one pair, kings).
Hero has Jd Ad (straight, ace high).
Outcome: Hero wins $126.70. BB wins $18.

I havnt updated the journal for a week or so since my fiancee just returned from 9 months in the UK, thus I have been *ahem* busy.

Havnt played much poker, just an hour here or there, I have been 2 and 3 tabling NL50 on party and playing fairly solid. I have further refined my game by increasing the size of my continuation bets to pot size almost every time, people are definitely less inclined to play back at you, and when you do have a hand the pot grows faster. Basic stuff I know but sometimes these things take a while to sink in.

I have almost completed reading Sklansky's Theory of Poker, there have been a few eye opening chapters and would definitely recommend the book to any poker player. In the near future I will definitely be posting some thoughts on specific topics, even if it is just to reinforce my own understanding. I was suprised how easy it was to read, many had stated it was hard going but I have basically read from front to back cover. Sure its a bit dry, but very interesting if you are keen on poker, which is of course the target audience.

Just a very quick update, I just reached a bankroll of $1000 thanks to my friends @ party poker NL50. After 1700 hands at that level I have pulled in $422 at a rate of 24BB/100, no doubt I am on a bit of a hot run but I do hope to maintain this pace for a while.

Biggest win of the day

I had decided to shove a dry board after the flop since I was probably up against AK or a big pocket pair, in the end a guy overplayed his queens and made all the choices for me.

Not much to report, havnt been playing much but have been going along solid when I do.

So long as I keep reminding myself to "play tight", things seem to work out nicely.

I have been neglecting this journal of late, mostly because I am not playing a great deal of poker at the moment. My fiancee returned from the UK a few months ago and thus I have had far more pressing matters to attend to ;)

Over the last week I have squeezed in an hour or two of poker every couple of days, still NL50 at Party. My winrate has settled down at a sexy 13 PTBB/100 for the time being and I am very comfortable with the games.

This week I hit $1500 at one point and took a stab at NL100 for a bit of a rush. I ended up losing a full stack after getting it all in preflop with KK vs QQ, naturally the river was a Q. I then proceeded to tilt off one more stack when my JJ was obviously beaten by a turned flush, but such is life. Will probably have another stab once I hit a bankroll of $2k.

I transferred $600 of my bankroll across to full tilt since they have a 100% signup bonus. Its clearing fairly slow at NL50, however I guess it adds around $5-7 to my hourly winrate, which isn't a bad thing :)

So far I have cleared around $30 of the bonus, once again not much time for poker right now.

Full Tilt seems to be full of extreme players, either extremely tight/solid or complete maniac donks. The softest games appear to by the pot limit tables, lots of very passive players mixed in with payoff monkeys.

Barracuda spoke too soon, I managed to bad beat/donk away $600 on full tilt and have decided to leave that site alone for the time being.

Lost three stacks at NL100 to some bad luck, set over set, set vs flopped straight (villain called pf 3bet with QTo) then clean QQ overs running into a flopped straight.

I started making plays at pots and lost the rest slowly doing so, losing my patience is bad, chasing losses is bad.

Oh well, lesson learned, back to NL50 for a while to rebuild things on party, then I may look to bonus whore on some easier to clear sites.
