I finished with the Nine Poker sign up bonus. Of course, I had to redeposit to clear that, so I have a redeposit bonus to work on now. That site kicked me under the wrong side of the variance table. Crap. I will be taking a break for a while - I might come back to it. On a brighter note, I have almost finished the Noble Poker sign up bonus and have been winning there at a reasonable rate after getting off to a rocky start. I am now back to just about even there . . . I will probably do another iPoker (Betfred?) and a B2B big bonus in May. I have been away from B2B for a few weeks, and I kind of miss it a little.

Yesterday I had booked a $72 win, and then, with a glaring lack of judgment, reopened the book on the day and went to the 4/8 and 5/10 game at Nine Poker. down $79 at 4/8 and 109 at 5/10 in a matter of a few minutes, then the games broke up. Damn. Then I went to Noble, where the biggest FR game was a single 2/4 game. Sat down and got back $45.

Totals for yesterday: -$73
Deepest Stuck: -$118

Interesting stat of the day - This is kind of depressing. Since just before the Reno trip 6 weeks ago, I am down $956 in poker play (thank God for bonuses - up $500 with bonuses). That includes buy-ins to a WPT tournament, a $110 SNG, and some brutal swings at iPoker and tiger gaming (the Akshun Network), and across limits from 1/2 to 10/20, both online and live.

Moving around in limits, mainly from 2/4 to 5/10 and everything in between, has focused me on a part of my game that needs a lot of work. I need to adjust to table conditions much quicker. Aggressive continuation bets help little at a table of calling stations, but thin value bets are mandatory. Taken to a table where players are aggressively betting draws and defending blinds, aggressive c/b's and firing on fourth can win the pot right there.

I missed a bet yesterday when an aggressive player pressed hard on a three-flushed flop in diamonds that gave me a straight. I knew his probable range was AJ-AKs, AKo, TT-AA from the pre-flop action (I was in EP and he re-raised me from CO. The table, with the exception of him, was weak-tight, and I was on a steal from EP with JTo. My raises were getting so much respect that I started opening up wide.) Even at the time, the idea that he had flopped a flush seemed unlikely. he would need to hold precisely the AJ or AK of diamonds. I was ahead of the rest of his likely range. I check raised the flop, he three bet, I capped. Turn was a brick, I bet, he raised, I called. River was another brick, he bet, I called. I knew at the time I was missing a bet and I was probably ahead. Sure enough, he turned over AKo for the nut flush draw and two overs. I think he would have capped the turn if I three bet. He was that aggressive.

At another table that I had open, a hand went like this: I raise from UTG with AKs. two cold callers and the big blind to the flop, where I miss, but pick up a gut shot and a back door flush draw. Big blind checks, I bet, one fold, one call, big blind folds. Turn is a 4, my suit. I bet, villian calls. River bricks. I fire once more (maybe I should give up?), villian calls and turns over 33. Unimproved underpair to the board. Phuck. How can she call that? I made a note, and moved on.

My point being that I have not made the proper adjustments at the tables quicly enough, and it is costing bets. Above, I probably could make two turn bets in the first hand (losing a bet on the river, net +1), and save 2.5 BB on the second hand by check-folding the missed flop. Yet at other tables, underpairs fold when they miss and I pick up 8.5 SB with my flop c/b. Both of these hands were at 2/4. Ugh.

Dan-

The place is not hard to find, it is just kind of far from the freeway. It doesn't get jumping untili after 9:30 or 10 anyways. If I make it up it will be about midnight. That is the plan right now, but Emma is getting over a cold so I may need to stay home with her. I will be in Vacaville until about 10:30 or 11. I'll be the guy decked out in #12 Nascar gear. Emmasmom might come if grandma can babysit, if Emma isn't too sick.

K-

No PT stats, this was on Akshun Network so not PT supported. I did not have any notes on her yet, and this one cost me $10, but yes, I did get my money back from her value betting second pair and whatnot. She turned out to be very passive and had a vpip near 40. I have been a little bit too results oriented lately (mostly due to the rough run lately, methinks) and this is a good example of not seeing the big picture. That 2.5BB investment in knowledge provided a decent return not far down the road.

I played just a couple hundred raked hands of my 1st party bonus yesterday, PLO8 at the 25s. God I love those tables. I had put Omaha on hiatus because I tried to move up to the 50s and got beat for 4 buy-ins real quick, inside of 1.5k hands, so I went back to LHE and found good bonuses to whore at limit. Now, PLO8 at the 25s and a party bonus . . . mmmm.

I finished up about one buy in in those couple hundred hands, will get back to work tonight, with an eye out sweating ex. at the Paradise 500k guaranteed. Good run so far, sir.

I went out to a local B&M last night with Emmasmom and met up with fellow BTPer DanhDan, the self proclaimed 3/6 mizor. OK, he mized a bit, but he was more about flirting with the dealer (who had a 2 hour shift - yikes) while sitting in seat 8 on an 8 seat table. He is really more of a degenerate than a mizor, like if he really wanted to be a mizor he sould have played like me and cleaned out two players on consecutive hands, where I cracked QQ with J5o and then beat A4 with KT by flopping broadway. That is mizing. I hope he at least got the dealer's number.

I was about to leave the joint - up $1 - then on my last hand I sent some chips to Dan in a most unplesant fashion - details are posted in his journal.

OK, back to work - come on over to IRC, I'm logging on now. . . .

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Started the TRP B2B bonus on a down note - wow those 1/2 FR LHE tables are way tighter than I remember. Off 27 euro and 47 points toward my 3000 for the month. I made a mistake by failing to account for the latest euro conversion rates, and so only deposited $750, which is 591 euro. Oooops. Deposit $800 kids. . . .

Well, Party giveth what B2B takes away, up almost two buy-ins at PLO8 25s. It has been slow going clearing the party bonus, but I will just start hammering it out.

Deepest stuck: -35 euro
Total for the day: +$5

I hammered out the rest of the first party bonus and most of the second one yesterday - 365 raked hands left - all at the PLO8 25s. For a period there I got concerned that the PLO8 players at party learned how to play, using position and analysis to deny drawing hands odds to ocntinue, and knowing when to fold so as to deny any chance for implied odds to come to fruition. Xaston talked me off the ledge, reminding me that no, the PLO8 players at the 25s at Party suck, and have always sucked. And always will suck. So yesterday I was down two buy-ins, donked off one on a horrible play that I will not post becasue I do not wish to relive the hand - suffice to say that I am not the only one that will take a stab with a high only hand from late position in PLO8 with a mini raise from EP and 4 limpers. I thought I got a patent on that move. UGH. I bled off another stack just being card dead. Then, I got a stack back:
Party Poker

UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.85, 2 folds, Button raises to $2.9, 2 folds, Hero raises to $9.05, Button calls.

Flop: [3c] [Qs] [Td] ($18.45, 2 players)

Jc 2c Jd 8d 183 193 627 0 32 96 0 0.246

This douche was berating me for my play on a hand earlier, so it was nice to take this one from him and send him to the rail. How can he fault this:

Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25

Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is MP2 with [Kh] [Ac] [Kd] [Jd]

Flop: [2s] [5h] [Ks] ($1.85, 4 players)
SB bets $2.15, UTG+2 calls, Hero raises to $10.75, 2 folds, UTG+2 calls all-in $3.5.
Uncalled bets: $5.1 returned to Hero.

Against douche's likely hand:

http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1700622
pokenum -o8 kh ac kd jd - 3c 7s as 2c - ad 2d 4s 8h -- 2s 5h ks
Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 666 enumerated boards containing Ks 2s 5h

4s Ad 2d 8h 40 49 611 6 96 371 9 0.114

But douche has me covered and I want him to fold. Other than making a pfr (which I do not like with a hi only hand here), I play this the same every time considering the dead money in the pot. If the flop is not pot and call, I probably wait to see if the turn card is safe. What a douche. Like he did not see that comming when he potted the flop. I am glad I took his money.

Results for yesterday: -25

i actually thought about that, and i agree with it in principle (i do this, too).

that being said, i think you might be putting too much value on image for party 25s -- esp. during a bonus period.

just my 2 cents... do what suits you. just please don't go play $2000 NLHE with your entire roll.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
