San Francisco is the only worthwhile city within 400 miles of me. It is about 80 miles from my house to SF proper.
Getting from San Francisco to the Commie involves an airplane; it is about 400 miles, so I suppose you could drive, but driving on the 5 is pretty damn boring. Although the defacto speed limit is slightly below escape velocity, so it goes pretty quickly.
There is poker near San Francisco, with actual limits worth playing, such as 40/80 LHE and 10/10/20 NLHE with no cap. Those games run at Lucky Chances in Colma just south of SF.
Flights to So. Cal. are cheap enough that having to get on an airplane to go to the Commie should not stop you.
