i recommend you get a back up internet connection (the cingular thing sounds good to me) and a UPS for when the power goes out.
as for putting in X hours a week -- just play as many hours as you can play your A-game and the tables are good. start slowly and build up some stamina. you're definitely on the low side for a poker professional, but you can make plenty if you play 20 hours a week.
