Today I finished up $101. I was up as much as $121,
but I had a couple of unlucky hands at the end. In one
hand I made a straight on the river, but my opponent
made a flush on the same river card to beat me. In the
other hand, my opponent got a lucky card on the river
to give us a split pot. Other than those two hands, I
only got beat one other time on the turn and not at
all on the river.

I didn't get any high pocket pairs like AA, KK or QQ,
but my medium pairs were holding up to win with one
exception.

I had pocket JJ, 88, 99, TT, and TT again, and won
with all of them except for the last TT. The eights I
flopped a set with to win, but the other won
unimproved.

I also won with some improbable hand like the
following:

1. With 9d 8d I won with a pair of eights.

2. With 9c 5c I won with a pair of nines.

3. With A 3, I won with a pair of threes.

4. With 4 3 in the big blind, I got a straight on the
turn to win.

5. With A 9, I won with ace high against A 7.

Sets flopped were 2 for 7, above average.

Flush draws made were 2 for 2, way above average.

Today I finished down $25. I started out down as much
as $149, but I made a come back at the end when I made
a couple of flush draws and won with pocket KK.

I suppose I did OK considering what I flopped zero
sets out of 20 pocket pairs, pathetically below
average.

Some of the reasons for my downturn at the beginning
were as follows:

I made a straight on the turn and got beat by a
runner-runner flush on the river.

I made a flush and got beat by a higher flush.

I had AQ against A9 and lost my pair of aces against
two pair aces and nines.

I had AQ against A3 and lost my pair of aces against
two pair aces and threes.

I had pocket KK which lost to trip queens on the turn.

I had pocket TT and lost to pocket QQ.

I had flopped two pair kings and queens and lost to a
straight on the turn.

Later during my upturn I had pocket AA and lost to a
flopped set of nines.

I think that's enough bad luck tales for today.

2/4 limit hold'em full tables

I was up $102 today. I got up early as high as $121,
fluctuate around that number and decided to quit. I
made up for the loss from Sunday and hit a new high.

Some of the reasons that I did well today were as
follows:

I actually won must of the hands I was supposed to
win.

1. A K won unimproved against K J.

2. K K won unimproved against A Q.

3. A T won against T 5. My pairs of tens won with a
better kicker.

4. K Q beat K 7. My pair of kings won with a better
kicker.

5. A K won unimproved against A Q.

And I won some hands I should have lost.

1. Q 7 against K T. I got a runner-runner full house
to beat a lower full house. I hit a queen on the turn
and another Q, a two outer, on the river to win. My
opponent deserved it though, because he checked on the
flop with trip tens and I got a free card.

2. Ah Jh against A K. My pair of jacks won.

And I made 3 out of 3 1/2 flush draws.

Of course there were the hands that I dominated and
still managed to lose.

1. Ad Jd against A 5. The flop contained an ace and a
five and my aces lost to two pair.

2. As 8s against J 8. My opponent flopped a straight.

3. A K against 4d 3d. My opponent flopped a straight.

(Probably Mecos, Xaston, and Tightwad would say that I was dominated in this hand, instead of the reverse.)

Sets flopped were 1 for 7, a little above average.

I started out OK when I won a few hands early,
culminating in my pocket JJ winning unimproved against
pocket 88. At this point I was up about $17.

Then the next 19 hands that I played, I lost. Nothing
spectacular, I was either flopping nothing or very
little, not improving, missing flush or straight
draws, or just getting beat. At this point I was down
$95.

Then I starting winning, and won 5 out of the last 10
hands that I played.

I flopped two pair and won.

I flopped a pair of queens and won.

I got a straight on the turn and won.

I flopped trip sixes, got a full house on the turn,
and won.

Finally at the end, I flopped the nut spade flush
draw. I had [As] [Ts]. The flop was [Js] [9s] [7h]. I made the
flush on the turn, when the [8s] came. I bet and the
small blind kept raising me, and I kept raising back
until the raises were capped. I had the best possible
hand and couldn't lose as long as the board didn't
pair up. The river was the [5h], and I won a $97 (24.25 BB) pot,
(profit $71). Since I had been playing for a while, I
decided to quit, and enjoy the memories of this hand.

I ended up $40.

I finished down $209, my biggest loss ever. I was down
as much as $244 and came back a little at the end.

The reasons for the loss were the usual: bad cards,
bad flops, and getting beat when I had good cards.

There was a period of 3 hands in a row when I got beat
by flushs. The first I had two pair and got beat by a
runner-runner flush. The second I flopped a set of
jacks and got beat by a runner-runner flush. And the
third I flopped two pair and got beat by a flush on
the turn.

Sets flopped were 2 for 15, a little above average.
One set I won very little and the other I lost.

Flush draws made were zero for five, obviously way
below average.

Not much else to say. Tomorrow is another day. At
least I'm up for the semi-monthly period and the
month.

I finished up $93. I was down about $20 early. but
made a comeback, when I flopped a flush and won. Then
I got pocket AA twice which won and at the end I made
two straights on the river which won.

Sets flopped were 0 for 6, below average.

2/4 limit hold'em full tables

Today I was down $298, my worst day ever, by far.

I knew that my luck wasn't off to a good start when
the first hand for the month, I got pocket AA in the
big blind. I was against pocket 22, and a 2 came on
the turn to beat me.

Sets flopped were 1 for 20, way below average and the
one set that I flopped I lost to a flush on the river.

Flush draws made were 2 out of 7 1/2, below average.
One the flush draws that I made I was beat by a full
house on the river.

I was either being out flopped, or beat on the turn
and the river. I had draws, but wasn't able to make
them.

After today, I think that my new goal now is to break
even this month.

Activity for 10/02/05
2/4 limit hold'em full tables

Today I finished up $103. I still got beat up on the
river today. But the difference between yesterday and
today is that some of my good hands actually held up.
I also won a big pot of $96 (24 big bets) when I flopped a full
house and won. That really helped.

Sets flopped were 1 for 11, below average.

Flush draws made were 2 out of 2 1/2. But on the
negative side I lost both flush draws to higher flushs
and I would have been better off if I had not even
made the flushs.

After yesterday, it's nice to finish in the positive.
