Alex... I've seen you play before, and you're plenty good enough for the $100s... I completely agree about the 50s though, as I'm splitting about 50/50 between the 50s and 100s...

While you're struggling, you may wanna lower your expectations about how much you're making a month... NO WAY you can make 5k a month at the 50s or 100s... I think it would even be difficult at 1/2NL... You might wanna drop it to a more managable 2k a month would suit just fine...

Sunday January 8th.

I started playing SH in Empire. One table of NL$50 and one NL$100. I needed 150+ raked hands to get the bonus but played 480 hands because the games were very good. I cashed out and put a winning session. Made 45 on the 100 table and 33 in NL$50.

After that I deposited 500 in Bodog. Lost 169.

Hand 1. NL$100

I m dealt QQ in MP and I raise to $5. The guy next to me (MP2) calls and button calls.

Flop comes K Q 2 with two clubs. i´m first to act and decided to check. Both players were quite aggressive and I knew at least one were going to bet. MP" checks and Button bets 6 to a 11 pot. I dont want two of them on the pot, they might be after the flush, that´s why I raise to 18. MP2 calls and button mini raises . I only fear KK but i just dont have anywhere to go so i pushed. I had both of them covered and they both called. MP2 had KK and button had AJ with bo clubs.

HAND2. NL$100.

i am dealt 77 in the CO. I limp after two other limpers. The bB checks.

Flop $4. 3 - 5 - 7. Checked to me, I bet $4. BB raises to $12 I reraises to $24 he calls.

Turn $50. 4. I just dont like that card. He thinks for a while bets $12. I call.

River 6. check, check. He shows 55 and the pot is a split.



HAND3. NL$100.

I have 99 in the BB. I have 150 in fron. Three limpers to the button who raises to $9. Button has been dumping chips all over and I havent got a chance to get mine. I called because he had 169 and had been tilting. I think at the moment he had donated 3 or four buy ins.


Flop $20+. 9 - Q - 5. I check. He bets 20+. I raise to 60+ and he pushes! I called him, pleased!

He flips over AJ and the turn is a K and river a T.


I stopped playing. I flopped the nut str8 two times and just split.

I think this has to be studied. I willl double check the journal to see how many hands I have been running like this.


Empire. 480 hands. +78.
Bonus. +18 (total $100 but 18 is the amount I cleared today.)

Bodog. 809 hands. -169. Bonus +50.

Total for the day -$23.

I really needed to know for how many hands I have been going so bad. I counted 20,203 hands from my posts on the journal. I know the losing streak started a few one or two days before i started the journal, so i think I could say it´s been for 21K+ hands.



Has anyone been running bad for such a long period??

I know I have been breaking even for the most parts of the streak but that´s still awful when your edge is 10PTBB/100 hands or more....

Amount won: $225!!!!

I did great n NL$50. I had two NL$50 tables and one NL$100. Made $70 in NL$100. Hit three sets and two boats. Also a str8. Was hit hard when the second nut str8 ran into the nuts.

Day totals:

Empire: 480 hands: +$78 + $18 in bonus = $96.
Bodog: 1243 hands: $56 + $50 in bonus = $106.

$202 payday. After all the bad beats I took I cant believe I came out winning. ..I guess I will have to stop whinning and just play correctly and let the poker gods decide....

So much for that losing streak On bodog espeically at the end of a session, I usually have to ask myself how I could possibly win with all the bad beats. I guess the key is we know how to lose significantly less on bad beats, and can maximaize value when the hands hold.

I guess I'm learning limit. If you didn't read my post in my journal it was like, " blah blah blah im angry at myself blah blah blah I need to learn this game and take poker seriously blah blah blah, I want to learn LHE stud and NL like the back of my hand this year blah blah blah I'm an irishman."

If you have the roll for 100NL why aren't you playing 2/4 or at least 1/2 limit?

I decided to start 0.5/1 Holdem because I have been running very bad at NL and since limit is even swingier than NL, I thought it was better to start small.

I dont have any intention of staying there for too long.

What your win rate at 2/4? What can be sustained by good players?
