This was downright horrible. Surprisingly I didn't break any furniture. I had this guy on a flush draw or a high K. Boy was I off. And no, he did NOT have a set, which did cross my mind.

Thought I was doing well today until that hand above. After that it was pretty much break even for the rest of the night.

Took the bike in for it's 5k mile service today, guess I'll get to get raped by the bike shop for that come the end of the week. Real life variance sucks too.

UTG should go back to his spiritual home, Tribeca.

It's always better to quit on the Up :D

Started out on Tribeca tonight and made a little money there again for once. Emphasis on little though. Then went to PokerRoom and ran QQ into KK for a full stack loss then blinded away another $30+ waiting on a comeback hand that never materialized.

Then, down big for the day again, dejected and pissed about my 3rd losing day in a row, and questioning why I even bother playing this game when it's obvious that I have no clue what I'm doing, I decided to load up my old friend Paradise Poker and see what I could muster in a last ditch effort before bed. I sat down at just one table and who was on my left but "Allstar", who was of course ignoring me and then leaving an orbit later even though I did say hi. Probably best he did though because even though he NEVER loses (jinx, jinx, jinx!!! ), I was gonna put a hurtin' on him! :D

The following hand is why I now realise why YOU "DO" BET YOUR DRAWS and why YOU "DON'T" SLOW PLAY SETS ON THE FLOP and YOU "DON'T" MINRAISE THE TURN!!! Now, after saying that with authority, let me just say that thankfully, this time at least, I was the one with the draw!

Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (10 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG+1 ($183.80)
UTG+2 ($179.70)
MP1 ($27.75)
MP2 ($129.75)
MP3 ($71.20)
CO ($149.40)
Button ($43.40)
SB ($141.90)
Hero ($111.25)
UTG ($106.45)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [2h], [4d]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
2 folds, UTG+2 calls $1, 1 fold, MP2 calls $1, MP3 calls $1, 3 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: ($4.50) [3h], [Qd], [5c] (4 players)
Hero bets $4, UTG+2 calls $4, MP2 folds, MP3 folds.

Turn: ($12.50) [6d] (2 players)
Hero bets $5, UTG+2 raises to $10, Hero calls $5.

River: ($32.50) [Ts] (2 players)
Hero bets $30, UTG+2 raises to $164.7, Hero calls $66.25.

Final Pot: $222.00

Results in white below:
Hero has 2h 4d (straight, six high).
UTG+2 has 5d 5s (three of a kind, fives).
Outcome: Hero wins $222.00.

You guys who are good at NL can correct me on this if I'm way off but in this hand I particularly liked my turn call after he minraised me because it really made my pot bet (well almost pot anyways) on the river look like I had only 2 pair or worse begging for a raise from a better hand, which is what I got. Even if I'm wrong about it, it sure seemed like exactly that in the heat of the moment.

Anyway, that session put me back up for the night overall again so I called it quits before I could swing back down.

Todays Stats:

PokerAcesClub NL100, 62 hands, 60 minutes, $25.80

PokerRoom NL100, 89 hands, 96 minutes, -$132.50

Paradise Poker NL100, 40 hands, 40 minutes, $120.50

PokerAcesClub: Earned 279 Action Points, 5270 out of 13500 total now.

PokerRoom: Earned 52.43 points, 349.07 out of 1400 total now.

It does look like you're very much drawing from the turn, or you have some kind of junk 2pair considering you checked in the BB.. he has to think he's ahead on the river and i'd probably push the river too given his hand and the action thus far. That's not the problem tho, it's that what if he put you on a 4, maybe 45 or Q4 or something, and then a 7 hit on the river? Worse yet, a 7d or 2d..albeit he's a bad player, and a bad player might still push the river there, but still..in general i prefer raising the turn up big.
