Took the day off from Poker. The wife bought me tickets this past Christmas to go see Ron White. Well, that was tonight. Friggin hilarious! But sheesh was he a dirty MOFO! All I had seen of him before was the Blue Collar Comedy dvd's and some special on the comedy network. Obviously they will only go so far with his act in those situations because they want to sell as much shit as they can. But tonight he wasn't beholdin to the money man and I was surprised as hell as to how dirty his comedy really is! There were a lot of, how do I say this nicely, "people older than me and I'm 40" in the crowd who I'm positive had never seen a show like that before.
I've seen quite a few comics live and some were downright nasty but Ron White definitely is near the top of the "I'm a dirty comic" list. I've been around the block before and not much can make me go "Jeez, that was sick!" Or "OMG, I can't believe he just said that." But this guy did. I was actually saying to myself "wow, thats just plain gross." But then found myself laughing my ass off at it for the most part.

It was a good time and I really needed it. Glad I took the night off from poker to do it. We have tickets for "The Friends of Bob & Tom Show" comedy show next month. Donnie Baker, Bob Zany, and a bunch of other comics all in the same night. Should be a lot of fun as well.

Amount of fun I had though made this a winning day in my book. I wonder if it should count as "a day" in my current winning streak? :D

Too damned late in the night to post anything more than just the daily stats. MVP seems to have ended his Tribeca variance period. Hopefully the end of mine will follow soon after. I'm tired of losing to Q2o & Q3o.

I waited ALL DAMNED DAY for this hand! And then I almost screwed it up when I accidentally minreraised him by hitting the raise button before I slid slider all the way over to put him allin. As it turned out he wasn't going anywhere anyway and I was drawing to one out and didn't know it but hey, I just KNEW my hand was good!!!!!

Actually, I believe that this is the VERY FIRST time I have ever beaten someone Quads over a boat. I've been on the losing end of this situation more times than I care to remember including a 3 day stretch once where it happened once a day for 3 days in a row! Now, I can honestly say that it feels much better being on the winning end of it.

Serves the S.O.B. right for not betting his set on the flop! :P :P :P :P :P :P

I played 811 hands today and flopped exactly 1 set. Hit 1 set on the turn and hit 1 set on the river. 3 sets in 811 hands, is that card dead or what? If it hadn't been for the above hand turning into quads on the river, I would have finished down for the day. Really sux to play that many hands and finish in the red. I'm extremely pleased that it didn't happen to me today. After 811 hands of almost NO GOOD HANDS, I felt like I deserved this hand more than I can begin to describe.

Wow what an arduous day of poker for such a small win. But at least it was a win right?

I actually sucked out on people TWO times today! Once with the hand above and once when I got allin PF with QQ vs KK and hit my set on the river. Unfortunately, the QQ hand was against a half stacker so didn't make all that much on it.

Boy, you'd think with playing 811 hands I would have lots of comments to make but I don't for some reason so here are the number for the day.

Todays Stats:

Paradise Poker NL100, 2 sessions of 3 tabling, 274 hands, 303 minutes, $19.35

Today was a very good day. Not so much for poker although I did win when a little when I did play, but mainly because the wife and I went on a 140 mile motorcycle ride with a bunch of my coworkers who are bikers. It was the first time I've ever been on a ride with a group that large. It was only 6 bikes and 9 people but that's 7 people and 4 bikes more than I've ever ridden with before. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Stopped at about the 3/4 mark for a nice dinner at a small town steakhouse. Just an overall very good time and we can't wait to do it again. We've been told that future rides will be with MANY more bikes and people. That should really be fun.

Not that you can see it very well but my bike is the one 2nd from the far end. The lake in the background was our destination for the day, Owyhee Reservoir in Eastern Oregon.

Just played a little bit today after the motorcycle ride.
I did manage to hit another set today after going 811 hands yesterday with only 3. Still though, 4 sets in over 1000 hands seems way to low to me. Hopefully that means I'm due for a streak of them!
This one I had 99 in MP and limped, LP limped as well and BB checked. Flop came [Td][9d][8d] which was not exactly the flop I would like to see when I flop a set. I bet the pot which was about $3 or so. LP and BB called. Turn was a rag and I bet pot again and they both folded. Oh well, not a huge pot but at least they didn't have the flush or straight to ruin my set.

Don't ya just hate it when you make a bad fold preflop? Talk about pouring salt into an open wound, I would've flopped the nuts, and the folks still in the hand were betting! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!! Awe well, I guess I got nobody to blame but myself.
Wait, I'm gonna blame MVP anyway. That guy would fold QQ OTB preflop to a bet and a raise. :D

The Aussies have an expression for it: "If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle".

Your changed action would've led you into a parallel universe with a different outcome. What that means in this case is that if you'd called preflop your action would've meant the RNG throwing out different cards on the flop.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Feel any better now? :)

LOL Northview,
That is EXACTLY what I told myself too after I made that fold and saw the flop. I have been to that parallel universe and aint nothing ever workin out the way you think it would have over there. So yes, I do fee a bit better now knowing that I am not the only one aware of this parallel universe. :D
I just recently saw the movie "Butterfly Effect". Good movie in my opinion. The idea that it was based on, is a perfect example of why my fold was ultimately forgiveable in the grand scheme of things.

BTW, if you're in Australia, and your auntie had balls, wouldn't she be either a cricket player or maybe just at least like the rest of the Aussie Aunties?
