stealth, nice journal. I'm working my way through yours and a few others. I'm think I'm gonna start my on here in a bit as well. Anyways, that sucks about your phone. I realized that a few months back that I only know 2 telephone numbers in my head. Mine and my dad's home number, other then that I have like 50 some people in my phone book whose number's I would not be able to pick out from a line up. Ohh well if they are that important they will call back. :D

Later, DS

Haha, at least I am not alone on not memorizing telephone numbers. Cell phones are the devil. I didn't realize how dependant on these damn things I am until I didn't have one. Also, DS, you should start a journal. They are fun to read back over after you've kept one for a while.

Anyway, today was a pretty much break even day. I played 4 and a half hours and lost $12, but cleared the Empire bonus. So I'm still showing a proift and the bankroll is back up to $2380.

I hit quad 2's again today and took down my only big winner. It netted me about $30, which isn't too special. My biggest losers today were two flush over flush's. Those hands combined cost me more than $60, so if it weren't for two hands I would have been very happy with the day. Here is one of the hands...
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (8 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

CO ($48.50)
Button ($49.25)

MP2 ($50)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [5d], [6d]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
2 folds, MP1 calls $0.50, 1 fold, CO calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($2.50) [7d], [Kc], [3d] (5 players)

Hero bets $10, MP1 raises to $20, Hero calls $10.

River: ($54.50) [9d] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $10, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $64.50

Results in white below:

Outcome: MP1 wins $64.50.

This next hand is just an AA hand.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

Flop: ($3) [Qd], [8h], [Ts] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG bets $1, Hero calls $1, MP1 calls $1, MP2 calls $1, SB folds, BB folds.

Turn: ($7) [6h] (4 players)
UTG bets $5, Hero folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds.

Final Pot: $12

Results in white below:
No showdown. UTG wins $12.

First of all, this was a limp raise gone bad at a table that had 7% pfr. Normally I would have raised this guy on the flop, but I figured there were wayyyyy to many people in the pot for me to stay in. Plus I only had $1.50 invested and I wasn't going to pay this guy off if he flopped a straight or two pair. Anybody think I should have played it differently?

I never ended up playing 100nl today but I did cash in the $10+1 tourney. Out of 240 people I took fifth and netted $157. I went out when I rivered two pair to a guy that flopped the nut str8 in the small blind.

It is always depressing not getting first when I know beyond a shodow of a doubt I am better than the competition. I am watching the table right now and it is minibet this, miniraise that, with an all in to finish it off. The whole night I was waiting to flop my monster so I could check call untill my opponent went all in with me holding the nuts. Never happened though and this is my sob story.

Thats the recap of my day, and tonight I plan on playing a couple 100nl tables along with a 20+2 tourney at Empire. I don't know how I will do considering I have a case of Carona waiting for me. The night will tell, then I will tell my journal and see my damage in the morning.

Tonight was a good short night. I played about 100 hands on Prima and made $17 in $50nl. Then I played some $100nl on Party and made $117.55 in 86 hands. Then I placed third in a 20+2 sng. In all I made over $150 and I played less than two hours. It was a good night. My best hand of the night was this KQ hand. I don't know what the hell he had.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

UTG ($89.50)

MP2 ($99.80)
MP3 ($90.12)
CO ($69.90)

Final Pot: $190.10

I couldn't believe he folded after putting that much money in the pot. My guess was that he was being cute with aces, and it backfired.

After the good start last night I lost $109 in the ring games while playing in the Empire 20+2 1K guarentee. I placed sixth in the tourney and netted $80, so the hit I took in the ring games was softened. All the lost money in ring play was from two hands I lost big on and one bad bluff against a maniac.

Here are the two big losers for the night.

In this first hand I thought the mini check raise was two pair or a set, so I figured if I hit my gutshot I was stacking him. I was scared of the diamond on the river so I just called. It's a good thing I didn't go all in.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG ($95)
UTG+1 ($124.70)
Hero ($100.10)
MP1 ($296.12)
MP2 ($41.60)
MP3 ($31.05)
CO ($143.75)
Button ($112.50)
SB ($124.70)
BB ($125.10)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with [Ah], [Kh]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
2 folds, Hero raises to $4, 1 fold, MP2 calls $4, 3 folds, SB (poster) calls $3.50, 1 fold.

Flop: ($13) [Qd], [5h], [Jd] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $10, MP2 folds, SB raises to $20, Hero calls $10.

Turn: ($53) [6h] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

River: ($53) [Td] (2 players)
SB bets $30, Hero calls $30.

Final Pot: $113

Results in white below:
SB has Ad 8d (flush, ace high).
Hero has Ah Kh (straight, ace high).
Outcome: SB wins $113.

This next hand I am just glad I did not decide to get all of my chips in the middle on the flop. This was maybe the third hand I had played at the table so I had no reads. If it had happened later in the night I would have known that my opponent only had a 7% vp$ip and it would have been an easy fold.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

MP2 ($115.25)
MP3 ($22.85)
Hero ($100)
Button ($122.37)
SB ($111.55)
BB ($122.30)
UTG ($141.90)
UTG+1 ($93)
UTG+2 ($73)
MP1 ($23.60)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [5c], [6c]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1, 3 folds, MP3 calls $1, Hero calls $1, 2 folds, BB checks.

Flop: ($4.50) [4h], [4c], [3c] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP3 bets $3, Hero raises to $8, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $8, MP3 folds.

Turn: ($23.50) [6h] (2 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks.

River: ($23.50) [2d] (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $30, Hero calls $30.

Final Pot: $83.50

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has 4s 4d (four of a kind, fours).
Hero has 5c 6c (straight, six high).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $83.50.

Tonight I plan on playing in the 20+2 on empire. I am making the money in this game about 70% of the time. That is no exaggeration. The play is so bad it is almost like a freeroll. Maybe I can get TW to play in it tonight since he claims to be playing from 12 to 8. Game starts at 2AM EST.

TW if you are up and cruising the net I looked for you on empire and TangRocks is not on any tables. You should join the tourney tonight so I can stack you and jump to an early chip lead.

I should also mention that this tourney I play in, although the play is horrible, that the final table is tough. I usually see four or five of the same guys at the final table every time I make it. So it is easy to make the money but much harder to cash in first place money, which is normally around $500. I have recently changed my Empire name to FishatSea so noone knows who I am 8-) .

Once again last night got off to a shitty start. I played about 100 hands against MVP and he took me for $11.50 when I tried to bluff him off of a set. He even told me he had a set but lucky for him I just wanted to see if could get him to fold it. That was in 50nl, and at the same time I was playing one table of 100nl. I have said this before and I will say it again; every time I try to move up in limits I have the worst luck possible. I limped UTG with AA and to my delight some maniac short stack pushes all in from MP something.. Well here is the hand.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

Button ($111.63)
SB ($136.10)
BB ($92.75)
Hero ($95)
UTG+1 ($78.30)
MP1 ($84.78)
MP2 ($94.40)
MP3 ($37.12)
CO ($100)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Ah], [Ac]. SB posts a blind of $0.50. CO posts a blind of $1.
Hero calls $1, UTG+1 calls $1, MP1 calls $1, 1 fold, MP3 calls $37.12 (All-In), 4 folds, Hero calls $94 (All-In), UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds.

Flop: ($136.62) [Ks], [Jd], [5d] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: ($136.62) [5s] (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($136.62) [Th] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $136.62

Results in white below:
Hero has Ah Ac (two pair, aces and fives).
MP3 has Qs As (straight, ace high).
Outcome: MP3 wins $76.24. Hero wins $57.88.

I am just glad he did not have a full stack. So, after five hours of pretty bad play and a few bad beats I am down $50 in the ring games and another $50 in two MTTs that I finished out of the money.

What does every good poker player do when he is having a bad day? They quit for the time being. But, with my good judgement, I took the allternative route by playing in a 50+5 sng. I had told MVP earlier in the night that I was either going to get back in the black or commit suicide. Go big or go home. And I won the sng.

Winning the sng was really quite a feat considering I was down to 45 chips with 8 people left in the game. I made a horrible play with KQs when I pushed all in after a short stack raised all in in front of me only to have the BB call holding KK. That is how I got knocked out one of my MTTs also last night. Anyway, I don't really remember the details of my comeback but it was RAD. I am just lucky my poker judgement is so good at 5:30 in the morning.

Im going back to bed,

Nice journal.

Actually I think what some good players do when they have a couple of really bad sessions.... is make stupid journals entries where they have conversations with poker....or commentaries with Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patton. Or maybe that's just me and my journal :)

You do really well in those MTTs eh? How many people are entering in the ones you're playing? Prima and Bodog are also prime places to place some small/medium tourneys.
Well hope your sessions go a little bit better.

I suppose it is a good thing that my brother and his girlfriend got in a big fight causing her to shut off the cable since I was on a two buy in downswing. I just got it back on today. For those of you who do not know, never put anything in a crazy girlfriend's name. I am sure most of you know that because in the poker game of life women are the rake. Thanks for that quote Edward Norton.

I am ready to get back in the swing of things. You never realize how much you come to depend on cable just to pass time when you have it. I have been dreaming about playing poker the last few nights and I have those Party bonuses to get started on. Thanks Nate for having a crazy girlfriend.

This weekend wasn't a total loss though. My friend Mike came down to visit again and might be moving here. We got really drunk with a half gallon of yeigermeister between four people. One of the guys, my friend Jason, just started slamming the shit and pissed everyone off by screaming at my girlfriend and making a complete ass out of himself at the bar. We sent him home and he passed out. Too bad for him. The rest of us never quit drinking and by the time we got home we were in the "Everything seems like a good idea" mode. What does every good friend do to a dumb ass friend that made an ass out of himself by drinking too much? Thats right, you beat him with a wiffle ball bat and video tape it.

He hates us all now and I can't really blame him, but hey, its one less mouth to feed. He will be feeling better soon enough and I am sure I have some payback coming. Along with the others that were part of it. I was going to send it to Big Boys but he said if he ever sees the tape online he will press assault charges. Fuck 'em if he can't take a joke.
