It has been some time since my last post on BTP and even longer since I posted in my journal. I have not quit playing poker or anything like that, but I have taken a short break. My grandma is old and not doing all that well so I spend most of my time looking after her. She went to one of my aunts for the rest of the month so I have decided to start playing cards on a regular basis again.
I played in an Empire 30+3 tourney with a prize pool of $2,500 guaranteed. I took first place and netted $718. It felt good after the great run of bad luck and bad cards I've had. The cards were not any good during the game, but I managed to make it to the final table as one of the short stacks. I had 3K and the average was 7.5K or so. The top 8 got paid so I played rock tight until I made the money. After that I doubled up when I got all in with AK against 88.
When there were five people left I was the short stack again. I had almost 4K in chips and pushed with 9To in the small blind and got called by the BB who had A3. Blinds were 500 and 1K. I doubled up. The very next hand the chip leader who had 25K lost 10K when he put the BB all in. I then stole the blinds three hands in a row and won a big pot on the fourth hand I tried stealing when I flopped two pair. It was great, I went from being the short stack to the big stack in six hands. I just ran the table over from that point on.
When it was down to three I had 40K and the other two each had 10K. They were just waiting for the hand to bust me with while I was raising every hand I got. One guy blinded out and the other only had 10K to my 50K when we were heads up. He folded almost every hand in the SB, pushed a couple times making me fold, and then he pushed when I had AQs. He flipped over QJ and that was all she wrote.
It's good to be back,
