I am writing this so I remember it.
Winning tournaments is so much better than the money that comes with it.
I've been on a tear. Not a big money-making one, but I have tripled my bankroll with 7 1st place tourney wins, just this year. NLHE finally has become more clear to me... except for one big weakness.
As said in Gordon's Little Green Book, Pg. 144, Ln. 1, "Don't Go Broke On One Pair."
It's got to be the simplest and first things I learned, yet, again and again, after accumulating chips to make the FT, my lack of discipline kicks in, and make the wrong move at the WRONG TIIME. Complete Level -2 poker.
So, for your rememberance, Donk... here is how you lost T25,000 at 250/500/50 6-table with 29 players left out of 400 and 24 get paid and you're 8/29 in rank.
Hero UTG with raises to 2.5K
2 folds to Button (T45,000), smooth calls, blinds fold, Pot: 6005
Flop:
Hero bets T4000, Villain Raises to 12000, Hero pushes. Pretty amatuer move cause a worse hand won't call and a better hand will.
The real kicker is that a peeled off on the turn. Had I smoothed his flop raise, that club sucks for Aces, but I would be betting 10K into 36K pot, which Aces just isn't going to fold, I fear.
Anyway, he was giving me loads of information on the flop and I ignored it, QQ, AA, KK, 44 all crush me and are worthy of the call PF.
I have so many more of these running thru my head.
