Okay a few days have gone by, and I'm over my little temper tantrum.

I've discovered the joys of Pot Limit Omaha (micro-limit of course at the moment.) After reading about Xaston's success in his own journal ... I thought it might well be worth a look. I absolutely LOVE it!!! It's as if everything I've learned about poker up to this point has all come together nicely into this game. My variance seems to have dissappeared ... (at least for now) ... and the profit you can make in even 30 minutes just blows away what I was able to do with Fixed Limit Hold Em. I'm eternally grateful for spending time playing LHE though ... as it provided me with the required mathematical knowledge of the game ... (I had to study my odds and really get to understand starting hands etc.) Playing PLO in my experience thus far is simple ... remove a lot of the psychology and just play the cards. If you don't have it ... fold. Always fold ... never bluff. Fold early. Fold often. And when you've got it ... manipulate that pot and get paid. It's perfect.

I find that the frequency of wins in PLO is fewer than with LHE, although this may be because I'm playing very tight ... and almost passive most of the time. Playing micro-limit ... I've got no problems folding a good hand when I've only invested 20 cents ... and just wait for when the next opportunity comes along to take buddy's entire $20 stack.

So that's my story now ... I've been at it less than a week ... but long enough to know that I'm impressed and I think this may be my new game ... replacing most all forms of Hold Em.

I'll keep posted on how it works out for me.

Pokerzen's Lesson Learned of the Day:

When you have 2 pair ... and you're on the nut flush draw ... and one guy's all in ... and another guys right in there too ... and you HIT YOUR FLUSH! on the river (yay) ......... BEFORE you throw a pot-sized bet of $30.00 in there (bringing things to a $60.00 pot on a 10 and 20 cent table) ... make sure that the card that finished your flush ... didn't also pair the board. Very important I found. Very important indeed.

I can't even call it a bad beat because it wasn't ... just bad play on my part. Lesson learned (hopefully.) Here in fact was the exact sequence of emotions when the $90.00 pot slid over to villain.

Someone find the cat ... I gotta do some kickin'. Tonight I'm going for overall hang time.

When you bust out my flush:

I've got my eye on this little guy next. I just consider them to be a legitimate expense in this business.

Also I was able to add a couple of books to my collection this week.

I finally picked up "Small Stakes Hold'Em" to go with my copy of "Theory of Poker." Not that I've read it yet, or even that I'm playing Hold'Em much at all with my new interest in PLO ... but still it's great to see it on my shelf.

Also, a gift was purchased for me by a dear friend ... (Pokerzen had the unfortunate experience of turning 30 the other day ... and it caused Pokerzen to refer to himself in 3rd person.)

This book is great ... it's the first poker book I've seen or read that deals not with math, strategy or any of those things ... but about self-awareness and self-control while at the poker table. There are 100 things to think about ... stuff like : "Prolong the Time Spent Looking at Your Cards" ... with an explanation of the meaning and the reasoning behind the concept. It's a really good "prep" read ... just before you sit at the table ... remind yourself of a couple of concepts and then play in a better frame of mind. Anyway ... this is the book ... and I'm not just pushing it because of the striking similarity between it's name and mine.

I'm too tired to post much. I got Poker Grapher-thingy working ... so I'll post my first 15K hands. I'm thinking back on the 2 big downswings ... I think during both it was a self-reinforcing tilt thing. Also, this includes all levels ... so the $ graph looks a bit different. When I first came on the forum ... that was during the huge spike up ... (this poker-thing is easy I thought ) Well anyway ... some real experience and lessons learned later ... here's my graph. Not to bad overall yet I don't think ... even being 15K hands. I'd really like to see this current downturn reverse though. Studying studying studying. Really looking at some of my plays through pokertracker ... and just saying ... dood ... were you retarded? I think if I can eliminate the "retarded" factor ... my BB should improve. There's some kind of calculus for that ... "As the retardation factor approaches the limit 0, we can observe a direct inverse and exponential relationship with BB/100" Anybody want to make an equation for that? Hmmm ... I think I just said Sklansky's fundamental theorem in different words is all.

Anyone know how I can make that bigger? I used Imageshack this time.
