belch-idy blech. what's the read on the CO? tough spot w/o a read...

Cutoff wasn't exactly the tightest player at the table . Which is why I felt he had a pretty wide range of hands to do that with. But considering the situation, even if you felt it was a race, would this be one of those times to consider racing? Why or why not?

me, probably not...b/c i can't seem to win a race from either side PF.

if i'm playing this hand, i'm flat calling PF and leading any non-A, non-K flop.

but i'm never in that pos. so i dunno...

Does the min-raise mean anything here? Had he done it a lot? If someone usually raises to 3x BB and all of the sudden min-raises for the first time, I would give him credit for a hand so I would say he has an over-pair often enough to make this a fold. If he had been varying his raises a lot and had done this before, I would probably flat call. You will close the action and you're getting 5:1 there. Basically, the 1 time out of 8 you flop a set you will bust one of them, the rest of the time I would check/fold. You have enough chips here to call and it won't effect your standing much. Also, the value of busting someone at this stage is SO HUGE because the real money is top 3. This would nearly ensure a top 3 finish. Actually, I may have just convinced myself that calling is the best play unless he was a total rock and wouldn't stack off with an over pair to the board.

First read I get without knowing the table is CO is not on a steal. Doubling the BB is not going to steal anything at a final table. He is making a value raise. I would feel a lot better about my 10's had the CO raised the pot. I am seeing the CO stealing more blinds then the button now days.

So I am putting CO on a big hand. But how will I find out just calling? I am not worried about the SB he is calling because of pot odds and he has the chips to see a lot of flops.

Calling is for a set and mucking if I miss. I don't totally hate this play because it is only costing me 5% of my stack and I will hit my set on the flop 8% of the time.

If I raise I am pushing. If I have more chips I play it for the pot size raise but for 25% of my stack I have to call his push so I want to put the pressure on him. Push pre flop and hope it is a race.

If I am playing my" A" game I call the mini raise and see a flop. If I am needing some luck to get to the final 3 I am pushing pre flop. Any other raise with average chip stack is not worth the time.
